Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

I support finding ways to help the homeless but parks are not designed for this function. It is going to introduce an immense amount of waste and make the areas less and less unuseable and more than likely unsafe. I do don't support opening the parks to homeless encampments.

Public spaces are for the public. They are not living spaces. Besides genessee park is on a landfill that emits methane! You want people to live on top of that?

Allowing camping in public spaces is not the answer. We must focus on permanent and transitional housing to get people off the streets. The longer they are on the streets, the more difficult it becomes to reintegrate them into society.

Had the SEATTLE voters known about the position these council members are taking on the homeless they would have never been elected.

This bill is a disaster for our city, the residents, visitors & the homeless. It doesn't address quality of life or the root problems of homelessness. Voters have passed parks, school, homeless levies to improve Seattle. Allowing vehicles & encampments on city property improves nothing, it will only be detrimental to this city.

This cannot be allowed!! Period. Our city is being ruined by this population and a complicit city council.

This is lowest common denominator thinking at its worst. This provides no services to the homeless, makes assistance to the mentally ill and drug addicted more difficult and succeeds only in lowering the standard of living for everyone else. It will most assuredly result in more homeless being attracted to Seattle and with it more stress on all of the limited resources that we have available. Additionally, it is appalling that the council would even consider mixing children with the mentally ill and drug-and alcohol addicted members of the homeless community. Parks are for kids, they are not the solution for housing the most challenged among us.

Absolutely Not! These are our parks, our green space, our pride and We pay for them. This is Not the solution for our city or the homeless. This is not a creative solution. Please consult with professionals to come up with something better. And for all our sakes let your citizens know well before you vote secretly!

Please vote no. We need real solutions.

Please keep our parks accessible to all citizens. If people live there how is I okay to violate their home when we use public space?

Please don't allow this to happen! There are other alternatives.

This is a poorly thought out solution to a very complex problem.

As someone who used to be a social worker, who worked with the homeless in Michigan, I can tell you this is not the solution. This will not only not help the homeless, but will, and already has, severely hurt our community. I do not feel safe in my own community anymore. The homeless are not bad people, but many of them need medical, substance abuse and mental health care, not tents.

Please do not allow this to pass. This is NOT a solution.

Please consider the rights of the hundreds of thousand tax paying citizens who abide by the laws and enjoy the green spaces free of tent camps, harassment, feces and drug paraphernalia.

We DO need an effective, practical, compassionate solution to the homeless situation in Seattle. This is NOT it.

This legislation seems short-sighted and likely to cause more problems than it solves. I am disappointed in Mike O'Brien and any other City Council members who are supporting this.

This is not the solution, even temporarily. I have worked in the mental health system since 1998 and those who receive services and those who don't, deserve better. I live in Ballard and witness the health hazards this plan poses for our community. Garbage, human waste, drug deals, crime, needles in plain site, and the list goes on. This bandaid on this gaping wound will only make it worse. Do better for all our citizens.

I Promise to work for recall of any council member who advocates for this asinine idea.
