This is not the solution to help people find a safe place to live.

This isn't what sidewalks and parks are designed for. Please do your job and find a real answer to this problem.

Parks belong to all of us. Allowing homeless encampments will drive many of the rest of us out of the parks because of safety concerns and because of unsanitary conditions. So to benefit a few people this plan will make parks inaccessible to thousands and thousands. Not a good choice.

Surely there are better solutions to help the homeless than this.

If this is the way you, the council, address this issue, then you are not doing your jobs well.

It's unfortunate that Seattle has its own homeless problems. I do wish anybody who fell into a deep struggle and find themselves lost and no where to go, to keep trying and hope they can break the cycle and get back on their feet. But there are also those who are giving up and turned to drugs, alcohol and environmental-disregard when it comes to their temporary settlements. Public Parks are public-safe-places for all ages, whether it's a controlled homeless encampment or not, it will create a non-public territory and discomfort for some to most park visitors.

The parks belong to all taxpayers, not the homeless. The $250 fee is probably unconstitutional, and absolutely ridiculous! Maybe they should be allowed to camp on the Civil Liberties members' parking strips, as well as the City Commissioners' lawns. See what they think, then. You people have lost your sense of duty to the tax payers.

It is appalling that this is Downtown's solution...namely to place the problem in neighborhood parks furthering the onslaught to our neighborhoods of excessive growth…traffic, and unregulated bicycle support. The most important reason why I don't support this bill is that it DOES NOT SOLVE THE HOMELESS problem. No one wants anyone, who wants help not to get it; however, the bigger problem is the lack of a true solution to homelessness by supporting those who suffer from mental illness and drugs and alcohol addiction.. A million dollars was used by the City to continue a failed community bicycle program! Why wasn't it used for this greater good??

There has to be a better plan than making our kids play spaces into encampments. The homeless need a path to stable housing, not another place to pitch a tent.

There has to be a better solution to the homeless issue. Let's look at the more progressive countries like Japan offering housing pods, etc.

This is bad legislation and in fact will do little to truly help the homeless. And to basically pass it verbatim as the ACLU wrote is is not a good example of the Democratic process.

This is both unsafe and inhumane. Its a proven failed response to homelessness. Please do not make matters worse.

This is not a solution to this problem. Parks are not designed to support this and it ruins them for everyone.

I am appalled that the City Council would even consider allowing camping in parks. The hygiene issues alone make such a proposal outlandish at best.
This is not the solution to help people find a safe place to live.
