This solution (hah) has already proven a failure in Portland. The Seattle City Council and our mayor may benefit from this lesson. Enabling a chosen lifestyle (yes that is what it is) will not erase it.

This is the most absurd bill I have EVER read.

I have to agree that camping in public parks is not an ideal solution for homeless people. They belong in safe, dry homes, rehab, or mental health facilities as the needs call for. if an individual wants to "live on the land" and not indoors, the city parks should not be available for that purpose. I know there are some homeless people who do not want to reside in shelters currently available, and for some, understandably so. But the city parks should not be the public spaces made available. There must be other better alternatives

Let's do better than this.

This is outrageous. While people surely need a place to go, this is not the answer. Instead of this, I would like to see an audit of the millions of dollars spent on homeless services. I have friends and neighbors who are homeless and the services they attempt to access are a disjointed labyrinth of frustration. This legislation is a dereliction of your duties toward all citizens of Seattle. I urge you to put your support toward REAL housing solutions : tiny houses and housing first facilities

Please reconsider Council Bill 118794. Our city parks and streets are for all to use and enjoy NOT for over night use. There are other solutions that should be considered.

Find a better more dignified and suitable solution that helps the homeless and respects the rights of both taxpayers and peoples in need!

This would be the most ignorant and passive option that could be chosen. Start spending OUR money correctly, get special interests out of your back pocket and fix the problem that you have allowed to balloon to this extreme point. DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO PASS or I assure you that you will be ousted as son as it is legally possible.

So we kick them out from under the freeway and place them in our public parks? Brilliant idea Seattle!!

This will ruin Seattle - either way make sure to vote and vote against those in favor when they are up for reelection.

This is not a solution - stop passing the buck and use the tax dollars for long term solutions.

This program has a heart, but fulfills the old saying, "well intended, poorly done." This simply moves our public green spaces into a shambling mess that serves only those in need of housing, but fails to actually solve that problem. It's a lose lose choice.

This is an ineffective use of public resources that promotes homelessness rather than improve the underlying issues of mental illness, drug addiction, domestic abuse and idleness.

if you on the city council feel so strogly about this why not invite as many of these people into your home and yard as possible. I understand the room inside is probably limited, but you should be able to provide housing for at least a few of them and the rest can set up shop in your yards. And don't worry that the fllor of your living room is not good enough, these people are used to much less!!!!

There has to be a better answer! We would experience an influx of more homeless people. My concerns are safety for citizens using the parks, and of course for sanitation. We should take note of how this failed in Portland.

"Camping" is not a solution for our homeless problems. It effectively forces people to make due living outdoors. This is ludicrous. These people need our help. They don't need Seattle to tell them to sleep outside. We are a wealthy city. We all need to pitch in and help.
