After voting in support of park levies multiple times it is astonishing to me that the Council would consider turning then into tent encampments. Please dispense with this I'll conceived idea.

As a psychiatric RN, I am painfully aware of the need for more housing in the Seattle area; however, I strongly believe this is not the answer. City parks are meant to be safe respites from the daily grind of living in this populous city. Please keep them this way.

Yes, we need to address homelessness in Seattle. No we don't need to turn every park property into a potential homeless camp site.

Councilmember Burgess said it best: "the proposed ordinance is not the balanced approach that carefully weighs and balances compassion with our public health and safety obligations. This ordinance tips this balance decidedly away from our public health and safety responsibilities and will do nothing to move people from homelessness to safe and appropriate housing."
As a concerned citizen and taxpayer, I urge the Council to vote NO on Council Bill 118794.

Please return responsible control of our neighborhoods to our neighbors. Utopian visions always fail, because they are inherently authoritarian.

How is it that the homeless and addiction are all lumped into one category? I am already nervous to walk by the little park in Ballard called Mervin gardens due to the drug use there in the past few months. I can't even think what will happen if you allow this bill to pass but if it does I will for the first time in my life next election be voting Republican.

Debora Juarez and all of you, please understand that this goes too far. We need to have some public spaces left for the people of Seattle.

It's not Fair that someone who has made bad decisions and has exhausted all options (friends & Family) available to them to just set up camp anywhere. why should i have to deal with the consequences of bad judgement , society works because we try to do what is fair to everyone. i'm all for "Helping" the less fortunate , but if you put yourself in that position (Drug Abuse, Alcoholism, Gambling) you forfeit the right to make your own choices, i shouldn't have to deal with a homeless person when I'm struggling to stay afloat myself. no one should have the right to occupy space designated for public use. it's not fair to the rest of us who want to live free too! Parks need to be preserved for children and families. As a taxpayers burdened increasingly by poor Seattle city decisions, it is time for our silent majority to speak up. Keep Seattle a good place to live for all. Invest in rehoming programs that work....meanwhile do not ruin the lives of us already here by promoting camping in public parks, sports fields and sidewalks.

I guess we are giving up on civilized society. Just giving up our parks to the lazy cretins that make up a majority of Seattle's homeless (yes there are members that are homeless due to ill fortune) reminds me of dystopian movies like Soylent Green.

When you let the homeless take over the parks they trash it to the point nobody else wants to use them. CITY COUNCIL BILL #118794 IS A HUGE MISTAKE. We somehow need to vote Mike O'Brien out.

This is not a solution for homelessness, it only encourages people to come to Seattle for a free ride.
No camping in the parks, no camping in RV's in violation of posted parking regulations and start actually doing something about the drug use in public spaces.

Any politicians considering this proposal deserve to be removed from office.

The Council will override the Mayor's veto by a two-thirds majority vote. The only chance left to stop this is by putting Bill Bryant and Mark Miloscia into office. Sad but no there is no other option.

Beyond believeable! Tent appeared on the field at Innerbay interfering with children's sporting events. We the people have our hands tied by our Mayor and City Council. Time to take back our sidewalks and parks.

Please do not enact Council Bill 118794. This is NOT the solution. It's irresponsible and destructive.
