Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

I don't even want a 6 month moratorium. What more do we need to study? This is simply wrong; and, especially, to make the taxpayers pay for upkeep /care - when we already do this through the huge park levies and other city levies that have been passed - raising our real estate taxes so that we can barely afford to stay in the very homes that are supporting all this. 3 generations of my family in this house on lower Capitol Hill, parks laid out by the Olmsteads for families, children, the elderly to enjoy a beautiful & unique city. Even allowing them to camp under bridges and on the freeway off-ramps = NO! There are beds and treatment centers that can house these people - as long as we do not allow other cities to continue to send them here. No, No, NO.

This is a sad effort to kick the can down the road and not address the underlying causes of homelessness in our grand city. We as a people need to address the appalling lack of mental health services, family services, elder services and affordable housing first. Sanctioned Hoovervilles will not benefit those in the most need of help our city prosper.

This is a completely unworkable proposal to an immense and complicated problem. As a long-time Seattle resident, I cannot support this plan.

They are not entitled to live freely on our properties where those of us in good faith pay our taxes appropriately. This is not the solution. Get with it!

This is folly

I strongly object to this legislation. It pushes the problems of homelessness onto the neighborhoods throughout the City. It makes it more difficult to provide coordinated access to services for the homeless, and it makes our public spaces less safe for everyone.

I'm all for addressing homelessness and paying taxes for solutions that work. But this is an irresponsible approach.

ban camping on public land in the greater metro Seattle area, and crack down HARD on those that disregard the law.

Our forefathers NEVER intended to turn our city parks into drug infested filthy and dangerous places. I can't even imagine HOW this idea came about. Parks are a part of our community for all to enjoy. IF the Bill 118794 becomes a reality, Seattle would be the worst city to live in....in America. And, homeless people from other parts of the country will move HERE. Making the problem for Seattle even worse. This s not a solution. We should not be looking for geographical places to support the homeless. We need to be looking for treating the problems that got them there in the first place. Please vote NO on 118794

The parks departments are already overburdened, and the proposed o ordinannce is so vague that we will end up litigating over what is "suitable" space

This is the wrong solution and will be a disaster for our city.

This is a horrible idea. We're going to lose our beautiful park system in the city and what was already a destination city for the professional homeless only grow worse. Seattle will be uninhabitable for decent, hardworking citizens if we continue on this path.

I'm for deploying an emergency "tiny home" response.

This isn't the solution our veterans, sick as homeless deserve. We can do better. This failed miserably in Portland.

Pursue tiny houses and other programs to house people. That is the best thing the city can do.

Please don't use our parks as a dumping ground for the homeless. Parks are for the law abiding tax paying citizens of this community.

This will not fix the lack of leader ship we need to address the homeless solution. Don't let homeless take over our parks! How will the general public use the parks safely when the homeless are given free reign, leaving trash and needles strewn about? As elected leaders you have a responsibility to make the parks safe for all.

This bill is not a solution to addressing the problem of homelessness.
