Move them out of the city, to a plot land that isn't being used (Seattle is being used, and is quite full, thank you!). Make them work all day for the plot we provide for them (pulling weeds, painting, cleaning their bathrooms etc).

This is stupid and already failed in Portland.

Lets keep the PDX experience in mind... this is not a winning solution for our homelessness problem.

If this passes, I want a REFUND on Initiative 1 to support our parks. Also, I will move. Flat out gone. Done. Enough already!

Camping on Sidewalks will result inevitably result in a violation of blocked sidewalks - either from tents and sleeping bags or from discarded needles and refuse that isn't cleaned up in a timely fashion.
According to the ADA:
As part of maintenance operations, public agency practices must ensure that day-to-day operations keep the path of travel open and usable for persons with disabilities throughout the year. This includes snow and debris removal, and maintenance of pedestrian traffic in work zones with only isolated or temporary interruptions in accessibility. According to FHWA, "A public agency must maintain its walkways in an accessible condition, with only isolated or temporary interruptions in accessibility. 28 CFR §35.133.

I moved to Seattle 5 years ago and am terrified of the impacts this bill would have on my new home. Impacts on our homeless (who will be given no further options since funds will be reapproriated to cleanup up and managing an explosion of urban camping). Impacts on the public perception of a responsible progressive approach (which this is NOT!). Impacts on our children, who have the right to use our parks safely. This is clearly not the only way, as made evident in Portland.

The Homeless Issue is a big problem.that needs to be addressed soon. But opening our city parks and green belts is not the way to fix it! So please don't let this Bill pass!!!

Focus on assisting the mentally ill and rehabilitation for drug users vs enabling destructive behavior. And let's keep parks clean and safe for families.

I'm empathetic to the needs of the homeless in our city but this is not the right way to address their situations. We should divert our attention to infrastructure facilities including housing, counseling, mental health help, drug and alcohol addiction help.

People need open spaces and touches of real nature, wild nature if possible, to stay sane, and human. Putting encampments in parks will deny the rest of the hundreds of thousands of taxpayers access to their parks.

Keep the parks nice for the kids and families of Seattle. We have rights too.

The city council has truly lost its mind even considering this bill in the first place. City parks and land are not a place to camp or live. This is not a safe alternative for the homeless, our city tax payers or our children.
Please do not this happen
