Portland OR tried this and cancelled the plan before their six month trial was over; it increased the number of homeless encampments considerably! Why don't we learn from Portland's experience, rather than enacting a two-year law with the same failed outcome here!

Camping in parks is illegal under Seattle municipal code 18.12.250. Furthermore, Seattles open space and parks are for the enjoyment of all citizens and visitors, not for the dwelling of any one individual.

House the homeless and treat the addicted and mentally ill! Ballard and surrounding neighborhoods no longer feel safe.

We need to provide help for our homeless population and services to reduce the substance abuse, but this is not the answer. We are already finding too many needles in parks (and I live in Madison Park) we don't need more of this. Statistics show that the vast majority of people who are on the streets for more than 3 days are homeless due to substance issues or severe mental health issues. These are people who need help, and I'm happy to help pay for this, but we do not want them living in places our children play.

This misguided legislation is not the solution for homelessness in Seattle. It did not work in Portland and will not work here. Do not allow more homeless camping in public spaces.

This is not a solution to the homeless problem and wasting money on cleaning up and monitoring the parks etc. would only take resources away from properly housing homeless Washington State residents.

I live in Lisa Herbold's district. I implore you and the rest of the City Council to not do this. It is a truly horrible idea.

I heard an idea from another resident about working with the port to turn Terminal 5 into a temporary homeless encampment. Seemed like something to consider.

I strongly disagree with allowing people to camp in our parks. Please do not enact this plan.

House the homeless. They should not be living in parks or on sidewalks. DO YOUR JOBS!

Allowing camping in parks is not the solution. This would be disastrous and drive Seattle residents away from safely being able to use their city park and green spaces. This half baked attitude is already effecting the playing areas our children rely on for sports. Think again.
