Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Stop the insanity.

Disastrous, temporary action...in no way a well-thought-out, long-term solution!

Really??!! Let's make it so no one wants to take their children to the zoo! So many negatives to this absolutely ridiculous proposed bill.......Wow.....Come on Seattle.....We're a lot smarter than this. Can't believe this has to even be a conversation☹️

It's not fair to turn our parks into campgrounds. Maybe such campgrounds should be in unincorporated areas of King County -- or simply on unused county land.

Have lived in city since 1989. This Is one of the most important Issues ever facing the city.

This bill is not the solution for homelessness. If it passes I will never vote for anyone who votes for it.

We don't need homeless people in are parks or under bridges they need to get jobs and stop being helpless

Please Please Please! STOP and THINK this through! AND GIVE COMMON SENSE SOME TIME TO PREVAIL! COUNCIL BILL 118974 WON'T STOP HOMELESSNESS, CONVERSELY, IT WILL PROMULGATE AND INVITE MORE HOMELESS people from all parts of this country and possibly outside of it! This ordinance is unconscionable in its present form. This proposal is an outrage for those of us live and work here. Yes homeless people do need help and solution driven paths for their individual situations. Let's teach those that are teachable and can work and want to better themselves how to fish, not give them fish in the form of a spot on/in our sidewalks, parks and or greenbelts For those who need more help, lets come up with solutions for them. BUT NOT THIS! Truly a new level of insanity for the city of Seattle. As a native of this wonderful city who has lived here for multiple decades i it does give me reason to pause and reflect if this is the place I want to call home for the rest of my life. Compassion for the homeless, yes, compounding the homeless problem and in effect creating more homelessness, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Vote no on this bill!!

It failed in Portland, it will fail here.

Please don't make our beautiful city a trash pit. Homeless camps are unsightly, absolutely filthy, and completely ruin neighborhoods. Forcing us to give up our recreational land is an absolute detriment to the city's atmosphere and land owners wellbeing.

We need better solutions, not a worsening of the problem, which is all this bill will accomplish.

It's ironic. A responsible, tax paying citizen like myself probably will get a ticket for parking my vehicle in any unauthorized location. Yet a drug addled, littering panhandler gets to claim a camping place in my park or on the street for his decrepit RV. Citizens have to bend over backwards to avoid any inconvenience to these squatters. Meanwhile WE are subject to follow the law. Moral hazard is turned on its head. This is the definition of insanity. Most of these people probably aren't even from Seattle and they are to have more rights than the residents of this fair city? I hope these swatters start camping out in front of the homes of our mayor and city council.

The homeless need a roof over there head not a tent. and help to get back on there feet

Please, a little common sense could be used in this case.

The city leaders need to step up or sit down.

Camping in parks doesn't solve a homeless problem at all, and creates a new safety problems for both homeless people and park visitors.

This is clearly not the solution to homelessness in Seattle. I am willing to pay more taxes for a real solution that includes safe protected space (purchased and managed by the city or by non-profit groups with funding from the city for this purpose) but it must include social services and amenities. Just letting people camp wherever they want without services is crazy and not sustainable

Find spaces to house people or use some of the abandoned old buildings, provide the sanitation facilities and garbage pick up but leave green spaces for out crowded city dwellers to us in safety.
