Seattle has already done more than almost any city in the country to try and address the problems of homelessness. I suspect that is why we continue to see the numbers increase regardless of the amounts of money the taxpayers have provided: the more you do the more people show up to take advantage of those benefits. How many years now have we been building low-income housing with money taken out of the pockets of Seattle homeowners? I'm sorry if this sounds heartless but anecdotal evidence has emerged over the years to support the premise that Seattle has become the go-to place for the homeless. We have to draw a line at some point, instead what we see is even greater taxes are being proposed to throw at this problem and now the loss of even the green spaces and parks as they become encampments for the homeless . . who will surely show up in numbers far greater than any of the geniuses on the city council have imagined.

I enjoy going to the parks. I will not enjoy them if there are homeless people living there leaving there trash everywhere. The homeless in Moses Lake trash everywhere they camped.

This bill does not address the homeless issue in a meaningful and compassionate way. Why aren't we looking to cities like Houston or Salt Lake City where they are building housing? Camping in our beautiful parks will only destroy them and not help a single person get off the streets. Housing not camping.

Maybe the next step is a recall of the city council. They don't seem to be using common sense.

No! I won't be voting for anyone that supports this. I work, pay my taxes and it is my right to expect safe living conditions. Do a research on how other cities/countries are dealing with this issue. Do your jobs please!

There are better ways to do this, please take the time to review and work on solving the real issues.

Absolutely not the solution to this problem. It will only destroy what makes our city special and be an invitation to an expanded homeless population.

If we must help the homeless it shouldn't be allowing them to remain homeless. I will discontinue my donations to parks and will stop using my time to pick up after the average users.

This is just a terrible, and completely short-sighted idea. I do not see how this moves us in a direction of addressing the homelessness issue in our city. Why is the council not evaluating methods used in other cities that have had positive impacts?

Which city council member wants to explain to us why this legislation won't increase the chance of one of our Seattle children getting poked with a used, discarded hypodermic needle?

Don't allow homeless people to set up a tent on my parking strip. Don't allow homeless camps on my daughter's soccer field. If this Bill passes, I will no longer be able to comfortably use the Burke Gilman Trail or allow my kids to ride their bikes to the park. Don't pass the buck, deal with the homeless issue.
