"We need to do something" is not a reason for doing the wrong thing. The proposed ordinance is not in the interest of Seattle residents who need safe parks, nor does it provide a solution or a step in the right direction for our homeless population.

No. just no. This is not a solution.

This is the solution? And legislators were paid to come up with this? Try harder or find other jobs: this solves nothing!

This is important.

This plan is not well thought out and puts are children at an elevated risk when visiting playgrounds and public spaces. Kicking homeless people out of the Jungle and other WSDOT property just to take over our public parks is not well thought out.

Please I want a safe, clean and secure place for my kids. We just came back from Michigan after being away for 5 years. And there has been many times that I have had regret my decision. Seattle doesn't look as clean and safe like it did 5 years ago. Please do not keep ruin it taking bad decisions.

Well maybe we should think of a place to put the homeless people who have nowhere else to go. Imagine you were dumped on the street with no money and no resources, as many of these people, just like you, are. After half a year of scrounging to get enough money for a tent, food and a coat, you are forced to live in a safer place than the streets (it's much much less safe at night as you may know). Now imagine people who have an infinitely thicker wallet than you (you, in this case) trying to force you out of "their" park, or "their" area, for no reason but because they think you're a no-good person who doesn't even have the capacity to make a few bucks, but little do they know you've been working harder than they ever had, with much bigger stakes (life stakes), and little do they know you are a human too, who hasn't done anything (or little to anything) wrong. In addition, how is this going to solve the problem. It will create larger problems for Homeless people who most of them have done nothing wrong, who don't have anywhere left to live for god's sake, and people are, instead of finding housing for them (which would COMPLETELY ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM) are trying to kick them out of "their" parks for their own convenience. Now does that sound at all fair, or a good idea to anyone

I am tired of being victumized by so called homeless people in Seattle. How about returning this city back to those who pay the taxes.

We have been taking our kindergarten classes to Woodland park for over 30 years. For years we have had to deal with used condoms, discarded needles and most recently human feces in many of the areas where we play. This constitutes a real health hazard to young children. Also with the proliferation of outdoor and forest preschools, we are seeing more and more young children in the park.

This is a terrible idea. I support providing low income housing and designated camps for homeless people, but not turning over our parks for this purpose.

I totally reject Council bill 118794. You are stomping all over all the citizens that aren't homeless and are paying for these public parks and placed. I know we have to help the homeless but you are not asking for anything in return -- just giving them handouts. Where are we supposed to go to use a public park. We get to tip toe through these people and their garbage and whatever else there is. So the children can't walk a city street without watching out for where there are stepping or what they might see. They can't play in the parks. PLEASE use come common sense and stop this bill. You are abusing the vast majority of the citizens to help a few.

Please reconsider, rewrite and refocus this bill. It does not serve or address the needs of the homeless population, nor is it fair to the residents of Seattle who have long enjoyed and taken pride in the beauty of our public parks and greenways.

A ridiculous idea and very damaging to our public forests including some that are old growth.

This is not a good idea! There needs to be a more thoughtful and cohesive plan.

Homeless people need our help, but this is not the solution. The impact to our environment, our neighborhoods and safety for everyone, including the very people this is meant to help, is being wildly underestimated. Please don't do this.

Seattle native, our family uses Cowen Park, Ravenna Park and the ravine between them every day. Our dog is constantly getting into stuff/garbage left in the park. Finding needles and drug paraphernalia is common and a problem already! Hate to think how both of these issues will escalate!

Why are paying for a city govt. whose only answer to the homeless problem seems to be "Eh - just go camp wherever you want" ?
