Don't do it!!! You'll create an insane situation if you vote for this. Do the job you were elected to do, by The People, and work on a better solution. This camping ordinance is a cop-out by our "representatives"!

City council is insane if they thing this will help in any way shape or form. My tax dollars are not spent on parks and green spaces for people to trash, they are there for people to enjoy because we like to live in a nice place. You'll turn our green space to brown space littered with trash, needles and human waste.

This is a nonsensical effort. What is our city council doing here? Get back to the job you're tasked with.

Check out Sperlings compare cities. Auburn, WA has more property crime than Flint MI. How'd they get this stupid?

Please do not let this happen. This is NOT a viable solution for our city.

The proposed bill is not a solution to homelessness. It also undermines the purpose of city parks and public areas and could make them unusable for the many activities for which they are used today, such as soccer, baseball etc. A better solution is needed.

I think this position should include Auburn and maybe the whole state.

I do not support the use of parks, streets, underpasses or ANY public space for homeless encampments of any kind for any period of time. It is particularly egregious to use park land for homeless encampments.

I am against allowing anyone to sleep in day use parks. I believe we are making a serious error in extending overnight sleeping privileges in public parks to homeless in Seattle.

Seattle is ruined. The city council is worthless and borderline communist. About to be Detroit....

I am a proud Seattle community member that is worried about what this could do to my neighborhood while doing nothing to help solve the problem. Please do not pass this.

I strongly oppose CB118794.
It will create an incredible number of drains upon taxpayers resources, create a HYUUGGEE increase in City liabilities (my thanks to DJT for his addition to America's lexicon). And most importantly - - it won't work as intended (or more accurately labeled ... 'as imagined').
I say this from a vantage point of:
35 years as a residential landlord;
20+ years managing Parks real estate;
Participating in some of those "jungle sweeps" along the freeway; and,
working for Wa. State Housing Fin. Commission trying to fund low income housing.
This is a desperate "show of action" by the elected city leaders who are ignoring what they are being told by City residents, City employees, economic & housing experts, and by the insurance companies which back up the City's self-insurance programs.
The Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation has worked hard for over 100 years to provide Seattle citizens with one of the nation's finest park systems. Don't destroy all that work by all those generations of residents with this cheap symbolic effort to "fix" a problem.
This is a very serious problem. Now do some serious work and try to find a real solution.

City parks provided an integral aspect of community to a city's taxpayers. many residents live in apartments, condos, townhomes, or other residences that do not have outdoor areas. Parks provide space for recreation, exercise, and meeting space for citizens. allowing the homeless to effectively live here would ruin the entire purpose of public parks.

This did not work in Portland and it won't work in Seattle.

I regularly walk through Greenlake and Woodland Park. They are both already filling up with homeless, and this summer I saw a homeless man taking a poop right out in the open, with bathroom nearby. I want to say that parks should remain parks. We need safe, open spaces, so they can be used by everyone, not just the homeless.
Build housing for low income people - do destroy our parks by making them refuge camps.
