Thank you for this petition. The councils emerging action is the opposite of leadership, unwilling to take the advice of their own commissioned reports advising how to address homeless issues, they take the path of least resistance (and no leadership) to not address the problem, but transfer it to parks. Sadly, what will emerge is an irrational anger and blame of the very homeless that the council claims to want to advocate for.

Terrible idea. Please vote no. Unsafe and unsanitary for all.

This proposed legislation is not the solution to homelessness. Allowing camping in Seattle parks will not solve the problem, and is unfair to taxpayers who have funded parks as places to visit and recreate in a safe, clean, natural environments. We did not fund Seattle parks to provide camping for homeless people. I will support taxes for solutions to homelessness that provides housing and support for these people, but will stop supporting levies ad taxes for parks if this law is passed.

absolutely no camping in Discovery Park! Not safe for solo women joggers/walkers. We paid a lot of money in property taxes to improve parks. Having parks damaged or destroyed by campers is not why we voted to support parks!!

What about the safety of our children and the potential for dirty needles.

This would be highly detrimental to the safety of our citizens. This is NOT going to solve the problem of getting homeless the resources they need. This will ruin our parks and if this passes i will no longer support parks because i won't be able to enjoy them. This would also open our parking strip to homeless for camping which means it will no longer be safe or sanitary. We currently maintain it with flowers, trees, etc. We would stop taking care of it and I am sure our neighbors would as well.

City parks should not be allowed to be inhabitated by homeless. We need to protect the children and families who use these parks. This will put everyone at risk nor does this "solution" help any of the homeless in Seattle get help. This is a fake fix.

Urban forests must be preserved. Summers bring tinder dry conditions. Walk through the forested areas with the legacy trees. Have these Council members actually walked through the wooded sections of these parks to see what will be destroyed? City codes declare it illegal to smoke, use drugs, possess weapons, have fires only in designated areas & unleashed dogs in the park. Who will enforce & clean up the needles, human feces, and garbage? What about the pollution runoff into the Sound & Lake Washington? I'm banned from walking in the areas Mike O'Brian calls 'maintained areas' because of my 12 year old dog. Due to a neuromuscular issue, walking & falling on the dirt paths are much safer for me than the broken sidewalks where I live. This proposal doesn't solve the homeless problem.
