Bill 118794 is a shortsighted and ridiculous proposal that will spread crime and ruin our nice city parks. Has Seattle City Council lost their minds? I will NOT vote for any city council incumbent.

Law cannot be preferential. If one group of people is allowed to camp, then we all are allowed. Our parks will be devastated.

This is one of the craziest ideas I have ever heard put forth by any city I have lived in. Discovery Park will be unwelcoming and unusable. My wife runs there often, my children hike there and I would not feel safe having them there alone anymore. Fix the housing problem, cool off speculation and make this city affordable again.

This is not a good solution to solve the homeless situation. Please keep our parks safe.

I fully agree that our public land should not become a "catch all" for any vagrant or homeless person that wants to set up and "live" there. It's unsafe and unsanitary, and will draw in more people looking for a free hand-out. Please do not pass this bill without further studies on it's negative impact or exploring more viable options to resolve or mitigate the problem.

Kids need safe spaces too.

This is a ridiculous proposal that completely disregards those of us who work and pay and follow the rules with a basic sense of respect for others. What is the Parks Dept thinking.

Such a policy in Portland was a complete disaster. Learn from Portland's experience. We have had similar problems in Cal Anderson Park when campers were allowed to stay, and when the junk and garbage built up, the Park Dept. staff could do nothing and the Police finally had to clear everyone out and the garbage and filth cleaned up.

As a tax payer I pay for public green spaces for my enjoyment and the enjoyment of other citizens, their children and our city's visitors. It would be unsafe and unsanitary and the parks would be unusable for the citizens if they are homeless encampments.

Does no one think things through to the end anymore? There are no easy solutions and this should certainly not be the one that's winning.

The focus should be prevention and treatment.

This is a very complex issue and I don't know the answer, but camping in parks and roads is not it.

Allowing the homeless to camp on public property does NOT solve the problem. We would only be enabling them to continue their life style. We need to keep our city safe and clean. Having lived here my entire life, 68, years, I have NEVER seen our beautiful city look so bad. I say NO on allowing the homeless camp on public property!

No camping in our parks and green spaces. Walking in this city feels very unsafe after dark.

This is so insane! People around the nation are calling Seattle "Freeattle." Inviting the nation's homeless, drug addicts, and mentally unstable into Seattle -- for starters -- and then telling them our city parks, our greenbelts, our sidewalks and streets are open to all -- does anyone have a brain? Look at what happened to Portland with this crazy idea - 500 tents in a park, and the whole plan scuttled after just six months. Inviting people to spread themselves out over our city and camp for free with no thought to sanitation, drug use, or safety to our neighborhoods and children does NOT ONE THING to address the issue of the homeless, drug addicted, and mentally unstable. I have considered myself to be kind, understanding, and compassionate -- but I have truly lost it with Mayor Murray and the city council and all their bizarre ideas that help no one at all: not the homeless, not Seattle's taxpayers supporting this city, not our children, not our safety. Put on your thinking caps, and LISTEN to Seattle's citizens telling you to think things through. If you can't do that, then watch KING-TV and the poll that showed 93% of viewers do NOT support this!
