You owe the citizens the courtesy of an environmental impact evaluation of allowing encampments in public areas. You are creating a mess and not a resolution to homelessness.

I have worked in the homeless community and know this approach will not be effective for the homeless community or the larger community. This is a short-sighted plan that does not resolve the issues of housing for our most vulnerable populations.

No homeless encampment!! I cannot walk out of my house without being scared of being raped, beaten or kidnapped. I'm tired of homeless camps in parks, I'm scared of the needles all over the grounds.

We need to focus on REAL solutions to homelessness. This neither helps the homeless nor our children who rely on public greenspace. At a practical level, it is virtually unenforceable and places undue burden on our police and parks employees. It is an ill conceived measure that has ALREADY FAILED in Portland. Why replicate failure?

I couldn't agree more that public spaces, especially parks should not be spaces for tents and habitation.

Take a lesson from Portland. You will be killing small business by having tents on sidewalks for up to 30 days. Have you all gone mad?

Public spaces are for everyone to enjoy and respect, and we must maintain and protect them.

This plan is not well thought out and will cause many problems in our public spaces and parks. Take the time to understand the implications. Learn from Portland

Enough is enough! We pay for those parks and for safety and get neither. The council invites homeless from across the country.
Get a clue! I can't bear to see what stupidity the council wastes our tax dollars and their time on next!!

118794 is not well thought out. Possible ramifications could be making parks unsafe and unaccessible to tax paying citizens.

Please reconsider this move. The homeless do not belong in our city parks. They do not value anything. You can see how they treat the land by the freeway. They leave rubbish, waste material and much more. Our citizens pay taxes to maintain the parks. Our children and citizens will not be able to use the parks once the homeless move in. Please learn from the experiment in Portland, OR. It didn't work there and it is not the answer in Seattle.

No homeless in our City Parks! This is where I take my grandchildren to play and their preservation as a safety zone for our activities is supposed to be one of the benefits of paying my exorbitant taxes. I will monitor the position of this council when voting in the future.

The city needs to address homelessness through shelters and mental health care not through a free pass to live on public park land with no sanitation and safety provisions.

I live in Magnolia. I have had to walk around needles, trash and garage in my daily doggie walks. Few weeks back I was verbally assulted by a homeless gentleman (for whatever reason) as he ranted against the world. I want to live peacefully in my parks and expect you (city council) to find a solution that does not take away my rights to enjoy my park. Since my taxes pay for the park, I expect nothing less. Did not work in Portland... find another way.

This plan is ridiculous and dangerous for the community — including the homeless.
