Greenlake park will soon be surrounded by developments as soon as those people in the houses get fed up and sell out. Funny how that works, isn't it? Ballard you all know what I'm talking about. And I think Magnolia might be figuring it out by now. This city is under renovation and gentrification. "How did that happen?" said the fisherman to his wife. PS I love greenlake !!

If our parks aren't safe for our children then we have the wrong priorities.

the parks are not for the homeless. what needs to be done for the homeless is to have a for tidal housing for them answer help them to find jobs.

There has to be a better solution to homelessness in Seattle.

This is a health hazard for this with and without homes. This is not what we voted for with Parks initiatives! Real solutions should be sought to alleviate Seattle's out of hand homeless problem. This(allowing encampments in parks) and not enforcing existing laws is NOT a solution. It can and will only lead to more problems

It's too bad Native Americans didn't think about doing an environmental impact study before agreeing to allowing white settlers in. What were they thinking?

Your backyard would give them closer access to a proper toilet. No one should "have to" pee in the woods. Although, personally, I rather enjoy it!

This is the dumbest proposal to date by this infamous city council (back door led by Murray) know for some totally stupid actions. The SPD cannot or will not deal with the problem now and will likely be MIA when the city is under siege by thousands of homeless thugs and druggies threatening the public, especially women and kids. That my friends will be the time to carry a firearm to protect yourself from the hordes of out-of-staters coming to Murray's Screwed Up Socialist Seattle.

TERRIBLE IDEA !! I would feel VERY unsafe having to walk around tents , people ,etc sleeping on the sidewalks. Or to have to actually step out onto the street just to get around them. Blocked sidewalks would make it near impossible for vision impaired people , anyone in a wheelchair, using a walker to use the sidewalk. I consider this a major SAFETY ISSUE . The impression this would give is the exact opposite of what the city would want tourists to get of Seattle--

PLEASE don't shunt this huge homelessness problem into the parks, where it will harm the environment and certainly help zero people get the help they need.

The ACLU needs to stop giving away this city.

Alter-Native communities taking residence in these areas? Are you Native American? A safe nurturing environment? Wow, that sound like a home. How insightful you are And I agree, humans don't seem to be very natural and probably don't belong in those surrounding. I purpose we keep parks "human free" Okay, maybe just human children, but no adults. Wait does that include homeless children? Oh, nevermind!

All of this vagrancy is appearing because we are feeding it. Everyone knows: Come to Seattle, ten free meals a day, panhandle for an easy $50/hour, break into cars and houses, no one will come after you unless you hurt someone. And now camp anywhere. Our hand wringing, guilt-ridden, bleeding heart City Council members will give you anything you want. Come one, come all! All vagrants and criminals are fed, no questions asked. The term "vagrant" cannot even be mentioned in public. Politically correct: "homeless".

Our parks should be a safe place, not camps for homeless people who should actually be placed in housing. People, homeless or not, are beasts who tend to trash areas they camp at unless they have to pay to camp there and there is a possibility of getting fined for destroying the camp ground. This will completely trash our parks and create hostile environments so parks that were once maintained by our tax dollars will be trashed and impossible to visit unless you want to get stabbed or harassed. (Not all homeless people are a threat BUT enough of them are unstable and those people will make parks that our taxes support impossible to enjoy.)

This isn't a solution. This will make things much, much worse than they already are.
