We cannot permit our parks, the crown jewels of the city, to become campgrounds. That is not their purpose. The council and mayor should act like homelessness is an emergency, not punt by simply allowing people to camp in our precious green spaces.

This is a horrible non-solution. So short sighted with obvious negative impact.

I imagine many homeless people feel unsafe as well and probably find it harder to love courageously than you do. Many people who had homes, left them because it was no longer safe to be there and that includes putting up the money or whatever was expected to stay there. And you are fortunate to have a home you feel safe in. I'm sure these homeless people don't feel very safe being where they are not wanted. Who would? It's unfortunate that these circumstances only raise tension. You'd think with the lovingly intelligent creatures we are capable of being, we could do better than only have are tensions raised!

Living in public areas is not the solution and is a health and safety issue.

Seattle has been growing very quickly. The city Council has not built low income housing or provided real methods for it. This spillage into homelessness needs to be taken care of with real housing and real programs not just allowing people to live in our parks.

Oh CCTV has got that covered easy-peasy. And I bet some people have got some pretty safe backyards and even maybe someone around who could monitor them. Maybe this shouldn't be about what not to do, getting all up in arms because somebody had a bad idea. How about encouraging a more successful approach implemented by other nations - with the exception Nazi Germany who followed the example of the US in the treatment of the indigenous people (I mean they were homeless, right? Living in teepees and such, not "real" houses like on "real estate").Especially after the white settlers gave them the boot off their land because they were getting in the way of progress. "What part of manifest destiny don't you understand, red man?"
And of course, what sane person would want to go camping in an unmonitored greenspace, only a crazy person would do that! Imagine having to be and even poop outside where no one else could see! Oh, the horror!

I don't need to walk my grandchild in a park and worry about needles or walk on human feces. Enough is enough help these people do not enable them. What you are doing is looking away because you don't haveto deal with it in your yard or street.

Too many reasons for getting this done to keep ignoring or putting it off.

Please work on making our parks and streets safe, there are other alternatives that need to be reviewed and discussed.

Consider the safety issues this will create for people in the community.

I pulled myself out 16 years ago without having to camp in a park. I went from all possessions in a paper bag to business and homeowner in 26 years. If you keep this up they won't move ahead

This will ruin the parks for me and my family to enjoy. There are alternatives to this other than allowing people to camp in our beautiful parks.
