Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

This proposal is ridiculous, just like the ongoing refusal by the city to enforce the laws that already exist. We only have this problem because we have allowed it to happen and even welcomed it.

ridiculous plan to allow homeless people camp in public parks. what about our children and those of us who religiously ever-increasing tax bills?

I live in Seattle and support the homeless. I expect my council members to allow us in the community to vote on options. I will not accept a free for all in parks and public spaces, especially a proposal that has no timeline to address the homelessness issue or that allows encampments to exist without a timeline.

Do not turn public spaces into homeless camps. This is not safe for families or children to play in. Find a better solution! What has Chicago done for example? We rarely saw homeless on the streets and they were all clean. We can find a solution to this problem without making it unsafe for families to enjoy parks and public places.

Homelessness is a complex issue and the city and our communities are mostly supportive of working to address and provide support for the homeless, however this is not the way. Let's work together to find solutions that work better for all of the neighbors in our community.

Keep our parks safe and family friendly and keep our homeless safe. Parks are closed at dark for a reason.

I am appalled and saddened by this plan, which would do lasting damage to the parks that make our city such a wonderful place to live. I also have grave concerns about the impact on children playing sports in our parks. Years ago, when we were having major problems in Cowan park with homeless people camping, I remember a couple of incidents in which children were endangered by people coming out from the park to try to take food or to engage in drug deals. It took years to get that cleaned out. Please, please do not put us back into that mess again !!

Please reconsider this for the safety of all Seattlites

There needs to be a more permanent solution to homelessness than constantly moving them from place to place. Parks should be a place where kids play and families go for the day... not a place for people to live and sleep in....

I live across the street from Cascade Park on ground level & I'm scared to walk alone after being followed by a homeless man. I've also witnessed drug deals, assault, and either prostitution or human trafficking. This is NOT the solution.

I use the parks with my young grandchildren and am distressed at the abuses that go on.

Stop!! Needs take serious action!!

Camping and littering are and should remain illegal within Seattle city limits. We need real, long-term solutions rather than shortsighted proposals that enable the trashing of our city.

50th and I-5 exits need serious attention. These druggies and alcoholics need to go.

This will not help our city. please delay enacting.

The homeless camps are not helping these people who need addiction and mental hospital care to turn there lives around. You are creating a larger problem with your actions of creating such camps. Let them receive help to be able to return as a productive member of society.

maybe the City Council can vacate part of Occidental Avenue - but don't let them take over our parks.

Let's find another way. This is not the answer.
