Use our tax payer dollars to actually PROVIDE for the homeless population. Don't try to escape from responsibility by pushing the homeless into our city parks.

This is not only about parks! They can put their tents on the SIDEWALKS and and any other PUBLIC AREAS as they wish. Stop this ridiculousness!

The council should work on solutions that provide housing and mental health assistance. Mini houses, etc. NOT allow camping in parks and public places. The 30day rule is a bad idea.

We need a better solution.

This ordinance, if enacted, will not give refuge to the homeless, but it will quickly be corrupted such that any person who has the intent to trespass to harass and intimididate now has city sanctioned "rights" to do so.

Kshama Sawant is the council member for my district. I have sent her multiple emails opposing this ordinance (as have many other people) yet she continues to support it despite the opinions of the people she represents. She must be voted out of office at the first opportunity.

Seattle homelessness is a problem, but it will not be solved by opening our parks and greenspace to homeless encampments.

I don't feel this is the answer to the homeless problem. More support for mental health issues is the first step.

Please keep our parks clean and free of campers. This is not a humane solution for these homeless people and we have heavily invested tax dollars into our parks to have them trashed by encampments and drug dealings.

This is the most ridiculous way to "fix" the homeless problem. We need to address this head on or we will slowly lose our beautiful city to garbage and tents. We need a mayor that is willing to step up and communicate with us and stop flip flopping his plans regarding this epidemic.

This is not a solution. It's not even a good stopgap. It could create a semi-permanent housing underclass on public property that was never designed for it, and the conflicting uses create potential privacy, safety and sanitation issues for everyone involved.

Horrible idea. Keep our parks safe.

We need to show love to the homeless to be sure, but there has to be reason used that takes into account the common safety of all in the community.

Portland, OR did this same thing and it was a huge failure.

Treat the problem, not the symptoms. Just look at how this worked for Portland.

I strongly appose this bill. I own property across from a public park, and there is already so much homelessness that camps their frequently. In addition, our home has already been broken into before, and the amount of homeless traffic in between the alleyway and the park is rampant. There are drug users who are drawn to our alleyway and park. One lady is a frequent paint huffer and leaves a trail of golf paint down our alleyway, on front porches and down fence lines. Is this the kind of people we want to attract to Seattle, let alone our beautiful public spaces? Seattle already doesn't have enough public space for everyday people to enjoy. With this bill we are going to not only going to attract more homelessness but we are taking away the right of our law enforcement to ensure that property of vacated timely. This is not a version of Seattle that I want to be a part of. This is not a solution: it's barely even a band aid. We need a real plan to address this homeless problem with a clear goal and outcome. We want homeless OFF our streets and OUT of our public spaces so that families can enjoy them as they were intended.
