This spaces are intended for and paid for by tax-payi g citizens and families. Homelessness is brought on by addiction or mental health situation in the vast majority of these cases. PLEASE spend our city and state resources on detox facilities and rehab beds, rather than garbage disposal and policing, to facilitate a REAL solution to the problem!

We will no longer have safe parks for our kid and family. Build low cost housing and ADDRESS the problem and stop being LAZY and moving these encampments all over the place.

Please do not allow camping in public places. This will not solve our homeless problem.

The homeless need shelter, job assistance and mental health support- not parks to sleep in.

our city parks are our treasure and should be a safe green space for ALL to use. allowing the homeless to camp in them turns them into unsafe zones for kids and families filled w needles, feces and garbage and IS NOT a solution to the homelessness epidemic!

What are you possibly thinking of? Didn't you see what happened in Portland? Take time to think this through some more --

I am for the city spending tax dollars on the micro-housing like at Othello, but our parks and greenways should not be open for camping: there is not enough garbage services, bathrooms for citizens using the parks as it is, let alone adding permanent encampments to them. It failed in Portland!

We need to provide housing and other services to bring people out of homelessness, but this is not the right legislation.

How does this in ANY way improve the homeless problem? It will just turn our parks into homeless camps and therefore trash heaps. Use of the parks by average citizens will likely plummet.
People are REALLY REALLY concerned and angry over this completely irrational proposal.

Here's an idea. Buy a parcel of property, ( in an area where property is less expensive) i.e. Lynnwood, Duval or Renton Build a hundred 'small houses', a small clinic with professionals who can evaluate each person and provide services for those with problems with alcohol, drugs, mental illness. And also help with education and job placement.
Also provide transportation for those who will go to work or school.
The homeless are 'individuals' with individual problems and needs. They need to be addressed 'one person at a time' This sounds expensive, but, all other solutions are only 'bandaids'. Until we address the bottom line we will only waste $$$$ and not really aid the homeless population.

Allowing camping in Seattle parks for homeless people does NOT address the problem! I wholeheartedly agree with this petition.
