Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Strongly oppose turning over Magnison Park to the homeless. There must be more appropriate facilitgies

We live in a emerald city. People come from all over the world just to experience the Washington life. I feel like there is other way for us to take care of this challenge.

We need a solution that will solve the problem...not make more problems. Bill 118794 is like a person who throws their arms up in the air out of frustration because they have no good solutions. It's a pathetic proposal, bad for the homeless and bad for the general public. Surely we can do better than this.

We live adjacent to Magnusen Park, have experienced fireworks and campfire residue in the adjoining area, and do not wish to further any safety issues that we already experience.

One of the few potential areas of Magnuson park borders a park fence along private back yards. Privacy must be considered. This area, used as a dog and pedestrian path through the park, must not be included in assigning camping space.

This bill is an affront to public safety, families, children, use of city parks and playfields, property owners and businesses. Very ill conceived.

I would have prefer this petition to ask for the immediate withdrawal of the proposed ordinance. All your points here #1-3 cost money, our money. That money and more should be put into into an immediate search for housing for our city's homeless and the development of a long term plan for "housing first."

We need real solutions to housing shortages and low income housing needs. More 'camping' areas are not the answer nor is it approapriate stewardship of our green spaces that are enjoyed by the general population. Don't destroy the beauty of our city, but protect it while working to find permant housing solutions for those who need a helping hand.

This did not work in Portland and it's not going to work here. It will be unsafe for young children who may find unwanted items. This is not the answer. I don't know what the answer is....but I am convinced this is not the right solution.

If you wish to establish sites for homeless I would suggest something like Park would be a least desirable, being isolated from transportation and other essential services.

Please don't enact this misguided legislation. There are better solutions available. Please don't do this - thank you.

This is not compassion!

Tired of Seattle being the bleeding heart for homeless. We can't just give hands outs they will never leave, they will never learn how to provide for themselves. 80 percent of homeless have substance abuse problems. The issue is huge, we need Federal resources to help with rehab, I dont think my taxes should keep going up to help people who are not interested in helping themselves.

We are strongly against placing homeless people in public parks and side walks. The city has to find a permanent solution!!

Living near Ravenna, Cowan and Green Lake parks just watching what's happening now makes me disgusted that as a city we haven't come up with a more thoughtful, safe and respectful answer to this problem. I hate feeling so unsafe in my own neighborhood.

Why would you bring homeless camp near the park where families with children hang out? dome homeless are mental are does drugs. Not safe and not helying end homeless.

It's time that the beautiful city of Seattle take control of this homeless epidemic . I don't understand why citizens who pay taxes and obey the laws are required to live their lives in fear of needles and homeless in their parks in a public area . The mayor needs to step up and take care of his tax paying residence .

Please keep our public parks clean and usable for my children. Safety from others shouldn't be a thought as I push my kids in a stroller around greenlake. If I have to pay to park in public camping areas, why should homeless get to do it for free all over the city?
