Stop Seattle From Turning Our Parks Into Homeless Encampments

Homeless people need help with finding a solid roof over their heads, not a pass to sleep in our parks and on our concrete sidewalks. These are for public use, and should be kept in a condition for us ALL to use. I would not bring my kids to play in a park that was used by urban campers like we see on the sides of I-5. I want to know that i can walk safely down a public sidewalk without having to step into the street to get past an encampment. We need real solutions through funded social services. This is not that.

Turning city parks into homeless encampments will not address the issues facing the homeless, i.e. Appropriate treatment facilities, all weather protection, and safety, it is against the purpose for which parks were created, i.e. Recreation and the enjoyment of nature for all citizens.

This is not a solution for homelessness. If this passes people will flee the city. Why do I pay taxes

We need responsible, sustainable solutions to solve the terrible problem of homelessness in our city. This is bandaid solution that only prolongs the issue. We need: mental health, addition recovery and low income housing.

Not sure how much crazier this city can get........ it's amazing that we even have to sign a petition.....

I find this incredibly insane. This will take away the parts for the children and the citizens who like to enjoy them. We need to find housing not camping.

I think that this proposed plan is unfair to the homeless and to taxpayers. The goal should be to provide at least temporary housing, not camps but not to infringe on public land that all can use. We should feel safe in our own communities from drugs and drug equipment.

Please consider the danger this would put female runners and walkers in.

Council Bill 118794 is poorly thought out, one sided, special interest favoring legislation and it's insulting that the SCC would consider such bold action with thought given to and input from the tax paying, law abiding citizens.

I have kids. I need to know that they are safe in my yard and in the parks. Letting unknown individuals "camp" in front of my house or in our park is not the answer.

Horrible idea. How about they camp in the counsel member's back yards!
