Bad idea. Been proven to be bad in Portland OR. Giving Seattle parks over to homeless to live takes away these parks for residents that make regular use of the green spaces.

There's got to be a better way to help homeless people. Looks like Seattle Just wants to sweep the problem under the rug.

Keep the parks free of homeless encampments. The city can always supply other property for the camps.

I find it unbelievable that the city would consider such a plan as a "solution." I wouldn't dream of letting children play in some of the parks where the homeless have already dug in.

The comments of Danny Westneat in the Seattle Times and Bob Wallace in the Puget Sound Business Journal say it better than I can.

Where is the Sierra Club on this issue? Shouldn't they be vigorously opposing this bill due to the damage it will cause on our environment? The homeless camps will damage sensitive woodlands and wildlife habitat not to mention all of the hazardous waste, human excrement, drug paraphernalia, and other harmful substances that will be dumped in green spaces all over the city. Speak up Sierra Club!

Vote against camping in the parks! I walk my dog and my kids after dinner in parks. It is better to keep my dog and kids away from the campers.

Extremely worried about the movement to restore greenbelts through Green Seattle Partnership getting derailed by mountains of hazardous trash, petty larceny, and acts of violence against volunteers. We already have tension between the homeless population and the volunteer forest stewards, this proposed legislation will exacerbate an already volatile situation.

This plan is dangerous and poorly thought out.

No to anybody camping in our parks and surplus land. That's what state parks are for.

This is NOT a NIMBY stance. I am near certain that if allowed, property crime, drug crimes and assaults will spread beyond more effectively policed areas. Concern for the safety of my 11 year old daughter in city parks grows daily.

Keep our parks safe! This is not the answer to helping the homeless. Please stop and consider many of the other ideas that have come forward.

While we want to help the homeless this is crazy .... You want to destroy the greens our kids play and we enjoy ...... Govt take responsibility of homeless issue and don't compromise our environment
