This is not the way to protect this most vulnerable part of our population. Provide safe and accessible housing for the homeless. Our parks and open spaces are not here to be destroyed by slums, and rampant homeless encampments are a ludicrous idea to solve the issue.

Counsel members, the mayor, and others who want to give up Park Space to the homeless, should open up their own personal properties to them. Once one property is overrun with drug parephenilia, trash, and human waste, they can move them to another's property. SOLVED

Seattle is being overrun by homeless encampments. This needs to be addressed. If the bill in question is adopted it will just perpetuate the problem and we'll end up with more camps. Already homeless people from other areas are coming here since the city allows it, making it easier to camp anywhere will just increase the situation. There is no place in Seattle that is appropriate for homeless camps without having a negative impact on neighborhoods. You never see homeless camps in downtown Bellevue, Seattle should follow their example.

No way! For tickly since there are no accompany proposals to deal with waist or/sanitation for such encampments which will result in a variety of problems for the city not to mention public health risk which City will be held accountable for sure there be any major outbreaks of disease putting all of us at risk. How ignorant!

We need more shelters, housing, mental health and support services for the chronic homeless. I will not ever again vote for bond issues and levies to support our park system if this is adopted here.

Similar legislation has turned the Pearl District into a nearly I walkable bivouac for the homeless Don't repeat this mistake in Seattle!

We have been told by respected national consultants on homelessness that tent encampments are not a solution.

Once again Seattle pays big bucks for a professional advisor and then turns around and does the opposite. People living in tents is no solution to homelessness. Especially when they would be allowed to camp in parks and any open space. Then if it is a disaster we wouldn't be able to move them out. Horrible idea and plan.

The policies of the Seattle city council continue to lack any sensitivity to the majority of hard working, lawful, taxpayers living in the city . In the mist of this economic boom - Parts of Seattle look like a third world country!

Please do not allow homeless to legally camp in public spaces. We currently live next to a greenbelt, and already struggle with trash and needles being left by homeless. Making it legal will just make this problem worse.

I volunteer and donate monthly to Mary's Place so I believe in helping the homeless. But camping in city parks is a bad idea because of garbage, waste, and safety. You need to come up with a better solution.

City leaders need to have housing for the homeless and assist them in finding avenues to improve their lifestyle. If they decline help and some will, they should not be allowed to "pitch" their tents...
