This is no solution to a multi-faceted problem. It will do nothing but create more problems.

Tim Burgess is right. This Council Bill (118794) is NO solution to the problem of homelessness in our city...but it certainly creates a new problem by eliminating safe/clean places for our children to play. Vote NO.

I would literally have to walk around tents on the sidewalk just to get to work if this passes. I wonder which of these council members live within a few blocks of the sidewalks and green spaces that they are trying to ruin?

Among my friends (who already tend to lean progressive) I am among the most progressive. This legislation is not progressive. To be progressive it has to create progress for all. This bill effectively kicks the can down the road and does little to nothing to create a stable home for the homeless. It also impacts our parks and public spaces. You need to think bigger and have a vision. The people of Seattle are progressive and visionary. If past history of initiative approvals is any guide, Seattle residents are willing to pay taxes for causes that result in progress. Progress in this case is a plan to provide enough of a hand up to the homeless to turn them into contributing members of society (e.g. they have a home, they have a job, they pay taxes). Come up with a real plan and ask for funding and stop kicking the can down the road.

Our taxes pay for these parks as well, our votes get you your postiions. Consider both and the contribution that the homeless make to either of these things.

We need to keep them from sleeping in our parks and Post Offices and the sidewalks. This whole thing is a waste of my tax dollars.

Leave our parks without encampments

Homeless encampments in our parks is not the answer. City parks are the playgrounds for city children.

One of these parks is next to my children's elementary school. That is not okay. This didn't work in portland, it won't work here.

Irresponsible and irresponsibly proposed legislation.

I am STRONGLY opposed to allowing homeless to camp in public spaces. My taxdollars should not and WILL NOT to support this horrible measure

Is nothing protected anymore? Our children play in those parks!

This is the worst idea ever. Portland initiated the same process & closed it down within 6 months because it was an absolute failure. How does the city council think this will help the homeless. I think they just want to keep people homeless.

This is not a good solution. People should not be living permanently in tents in public spaces. It's bad for the homeless - they need real housing. It's bad for everyone else - we would like to be able to use the parks.

Please for the safety and consideration of the public at large do not encourage occupancy of homeless camps at our Seattle City Parks. They are not campgrounds, tent cities. They are designated green space where our families, children experience the outdoors amidst city life. When many families have little or no yard these parks become havens for families across our city. Please protect this space.
