Revisionist history has no place in Arizona. Because just the Super Bowl 20 years ago and it’s about to cost us the Super Bowl in the near future. Legislators should be required to pass an AP economics and history exam or a middle school history exam before they make changes to educational content and curriculum. Do they have any content knowledge or are they reading from the ALEC playbook? Our students’ place in the global economy depends upon their understanding of history, economics, and the contributions of all people who sacrificed on battlefields in multiple wars and/or saved lives in hospitals or as first responders.. Those who travel and/or are business owners constantly encounter people who question yet another headline that tarnishes Arizona’s reputation. We have enough charter schools here in the state -more than any other in the country- that offer a range of perspectives and philosophies. Legislators who don’t agree with history curriculums can homeschool their kids.

Why would one party in the Arizona legislature want to silence students and teachers or make sure teachers do not follow the curriculum designed for Arizona schools? Brainwashing or they hate all teachers and the work they do? Whatever the reason it’s disgusting.

Stop SB 1532. Stop weighing opinions as facts. Stop denying any history other than white Christian history.

SB 1532 is an authoritarian affront to humanity that has no place in American schools. I did not bring a child into this world just to see him oppressed by fascist garbage. Why would any American worthy of the name need to be afraid of truth?

"...Social Studies teachers who have pursued college degrees and teacher certification will find it easier to walk away than be threatened by fines for promoting class discussion and critical thinking." I am US History teacher. I teach general and AP level classes. My students in APUSH score well above the national average on their exam. I am a good teacher, and I love doing it, but this statement is 100% true. I will not take what is already a more than full-time job with a lot of stress and expectation and add being worried that teaching about actual, factual events of history could be deemed "controversial" and get me fined more than 10% of my meager pay, or worse. I would leave the profession. Please allow me to keep teaching - allow Arizona students to learn that history is a subject they must think critically about in order to become the leaders of tomorrow.

As an Educator, my job is to teach students to learn from others, perspectives, books and other media of the creation of the world/ nation/ state so that when they are adults, can navigate through their world.

I believe in education, and I believe in our teachers' ability to help our students think critically about important issues. The attack on education, the constant accusations of indoctrination, must stop.

As a science teacher, much of what I teach can be deemed controversial. Insisting that I teach “both sides” of a concept undermines the quality of science instruction my students receive and panders to both pseudoscience and anti-science views.

Educators are the experts on education. If our legislators continue to attack public education, there won’t be any left.

This us disgusting. Hiding the truth and refusing to teach our kids the difference between right and wrong, truth and fiction, will only perpetuate generations of ignorant, unempathetic adults as well as continue the trauma caused to the marginalized

This bill is against everything public education should be. Another effort to give validation to lies, conspiracies, and half truths.
