The teacher shortage will only get worse if we can’t teach facts, perspectives and truth. I know I won’t teach if this goes through.

Critical thinking skills are essential to providing an excellent education and future employment. This unnecessary bill stiffens accurate history as well as silencing of educators. It must be be made into law.

As a public educator and parent, legislation like this will have devastating effects for generations to come. It is retaliatory in nature. It further marginalizes groups already underrepresented in education. We need legislation that builds up our public schools, not bills like this created by extremist political groups.

This is yet another piece of legislation that addresses a problem that does not exist. Educators do not indoctrinate, they teach the facts. Please do not approve this Orwellian edict!

Those who don't learn from ACTUAL, FAIRLY TAUGHT history are doomed to repeat it. Pretty sure most people don't want another Holocaust, Tulsa Massacre, or Trail of Tears (except for this legislation's authors, maybe). Let's let bigotry go the way of the dodo, shall we? Teach the truth, free our children. Pretty simple.

As an educator, I stand against this dangerous legislation that opens the door for false realities and conspiracy theories to be given equal relevance to the truth. Current guidelines for teachers prevent them from teaching their own biased viewpoints. This legislation would make it impossible for a teacher to address controversial issues that are part of the curriculum for fear of reprisal and would weaken the integrity of teachers by requiring equal value in both sides for topics like the Holocaust and slavery.
