This re-zoning project indicates a lack of wisdom: a) no concern for eradicating historic trees that cool our increasing temperature; b) no concern on how the increased population will affect already crowded schools in the area; c) no concern for increased burden on emergency services. For starters. It astounds me how 'leaders' choose to arbitrarily swing a 'money bag' over residents' heads, using 'housing' to increase revenue. How selfish. What a lack of foresight. Shame on Lakewood City Council.

I agree with you. This building homes thing is out of control. They are ruining the whole concept of Lakewood, and why we enjoy living here! They are cutting down all the trees, which in turn, displaces animals, which is wrong and sad, but it also removes the barrier for keeping traffic sounds at bay. Traffic is terrible, and its not even school time yet! I hate they way they slam 4-plexes and apartments anywhere now! Someone has to stop this insanity.

we as residents of dolly madison st sw have suffered horribly due to short platting. the beauty and spaciousness of certain properties have disappeared and now houses are rubbing elbows, hideous to say the least. trees are being cut down left and right and fairly soon, we won't be lakewood anymore, just lake. i would like homeowners and others to have the right to decide whether a home can be built or not esp. when it is encroaching on another property. this is just plain greed at it's worst.

As a resident in the area of question I object to the rezoning to R-3. The traffic in the area is already beyond what the current infrastructure can handle during peak hours and this resolution would just increase the woes of area residents.

That is a lot of houses in such a small plat, with setbacks, 20-25% of the land taken out for roads, etc, the houses will be very close and dense. I strongly urge the members to reject this zoning change and leave it at R1

We can be and should be independent from the Puget Sound Regional Council and other such quasi governmental organizations that think they can proscribe such growth requirements on us. Stand up for our independence!

This is a terrible idea! If this passes I will take note of who voted for it! Such poor planning is what ruins cities. Let's not follow the poor leadership of Seattle and pave our own way. Plan with community so that we can improve our city together.

If this resolution is passed I will have lost signifigant trust in the leadership of Lakewood. Cramming 33 homes into that lot is a disgrace to Lakewood, and more importantly a vivid display of poor city planning. I am a middle class resident of Lakewood, please make decisions that help that middle class to succeed. The only people that will benefit will be the seller and the developer. The rest of us will pay the price! Change the zoning in Tillicum or Woodbrook! Not Gravelly Lake area!
I live right next to Veterans drive and across the street from the proposed property. I can confirm that the intersection located Gravelly and Veterans Drive is already very dangerous and has had multiple accidents. Adding more residences there than currently zoned for will increase the traffic risks and hurt out city!!!!

My parents, grandparents and great-grandparents before them have lived continuously on American Lake, near the Barker Estate, since 1921. I have been a frequent visitor to Lakewood, and I attended Annie Wright for a year in 1998-99. I am also a graduate of Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) with a BS in City & Regional Planning. What the Lakewood Planning Department has proposed and the Planning Commission has referred to the City Council for adoption, is incomprehensible. What are they thinking?
