We ask that the Examiner-Enterprise and Gatehouse Media, LLC no longer print, publish, or distribute articles that are written by Dr. Everett Piper. While we support the Examiner-Enterprise’s goal of publishing differing opinions to foster understanding and progress in our community, we feel that Dr. Piper’s divisive, intolerant, and judgmental words do not further this objective. In fact, Dr. Piper’s words do the exact opposite and by publishing this so does the Examiner-Enterprise. We respectfully ask this of the Examiner-Enterprise and Gatehouse Media LLC.

I gave up my subscription a long time ago because of piper's hateful and divisive articles. That you give him a platform to spew his hatred in our only true local outlet for opinion sickens me. This paper should be seeking to bring our community together, not to drive a wedge between us. Shame on examiner enterprise.

Free speech is a right...yes. But Piper is a columnist in a subscription based publication...We're tired of his opinion. I'd take the paper if not for his regular feature column. He can always write letters to the editor like anyone else. Nobody is trying to silence him, just remove his paid platform for spewing it.

Piper’s implication that a same-sex, loving relationship is somehow comparable to the horrendous crime of incest shows how ignorant and full of hate he is. The fact that the paper continues to give him an outlet to spread this hate is sickening.

Kelley Becker, David Bailey and I have met with the Editotial Board of the EE several times over several months about this issue. I hope this petition will help them see the depth of concen in the community and how Piper’s columns are negatively affecting the community—and their subscription base.

I also did not renew my subscription and he was one of the main reasons. Piper's frequently printed editorials give the impression that your paper subscribes to his opinion. I can't and won't. He is the poster boy for malpractice on human soles.

Our teachers and public education are being unfairly demonized by this man. He does not act like he lives Christian values but acts like he is full of sneers and hate. Our teachers and public education are being unfairly demonized by this man. Even though I no longer live in Bartlesville, I am deeply ashamed of the articles written by Everett Piper.
