Is the demand at DCL State Park beyond the capacity of the existing boat lauch?

This is a waste of money and was pushed through without properly informing the community. There are better ways to spend this $$ at DCL.

The proposed are is one of the nicest and quietest areas of the lake. We always boat to this area to drop anchor, relax, and swim. The construction of a new boat launch will destroy the peaceful and serene surroundings. This is a rather rural and unpopulated area of the lake, and if the local property owners do not want this, who will use it? The idea of spending $1 million dollars for worthless, undevelopable wetlands is a waste of taxpayer money, but the true cost of developing this will be much more. If the property alone costs $1 million, what is the proposed final tally supposed to be after the construction of the boat ramp, parking lot, restrooms, etc? I would venture to guess well over $2 million with government waste. I constantly use the ramp at the state park and do not feel that it is ever busy enough to warrant the added cost of a second ramp. If a second ramp is needed, it should be located in an area of the lake that is more densely populated and will used more, like the northern end of the lake.

as a taxpayer and a homeowner on DCL, I oppose the waste of hard earned funding for this effort.

We are residents in the Blakeslee community directly across the cove from the Yacht Club. We are strongly opposed to this transaction. This will destroy the peacefulness of this end of the lake, the reason that we settled there. Additionally, we are also concerned about the additional environmental impact on the wetlands area within our cove and at the southern end of the lake from invasive species carried in on watercraft with no monitoring. In addition, the expenditure of $1 million for an acre of lakefront property is an absolute waste of taxpayers’ money. Lake front property has sold at one-third of that price. That money would be more effectively spent on resolving Deep Creek Lake’s existing degradation and issues. However, there never seems to be funds available for those purposes. There is not even a planned method for collecting park and launch fees for this location, so there no taxpayer fund recovery or any income for maintenance. Governor Hogan needs to have his staff evaluate this waste by the Maryland DNR and put a stop to this boondoggle as he did the Baltimore Red Line. This has all of the appearances of an inside deal with the DNR by the current landowners. It may be of value to research for any relationships or shared business ventures with the current landowners and the Maryland DNR Administration.

I as a land owner adjacent to the yacht club and located within the Blakeslee development am totally opposed to any state expansion for motorized or non-motorized vessels or beach area within the southern portion of Deep Creek Lake. The increase in lake traffic will not only further congest an already congested area but will utimately degrade the value of my existing lakefront lot.

We live on Ezra Savage Road.. We feel the lake is expanding to drastically and this will take away from the peacefulness of Turkey Neck. We also have deep concerns about the wetlands and species populating that land.

The process by which this land purchase is being consummated lacks transparency and characterizes abuse of governmental authority. The purchase should be rescinded in favor or a more open and democratic process.

I view this incident as a an example of what happens when an entity such as the DNR uses its power and influence to disregard rules concerning the law that they were developed to enforce and regulate. This proposed action is neither wanted or needed yet it has gone to this point. $1,000,000.00 + for less than an acre of wetland? Lets not allow this to continue! Please consider the rights of the property owners and the residents in this area. If another launch is really needed then why not use the money being considered to buy this area for improvements to existing launches?

We specifically own land on the southern end of the lake for it's quiet beauty. Please restrict access at this point. I personally grew up on Yacht Club Road and would hate to see it destroyed. I still choose the southern end to make my permanant home.

Sounds to me like there is a great benefit for someone/group but not the taxpayers or the improvement of the lake concerns!

This proposal is extremely ill-conceived and is a terrible mismanagement of financial resources and land.

my family has lived, worked & vacationed on Deep Creek Lake for decades. We strongly reject this proposal and petition for this project to be terminated.

Don't destroy more of our woods and wetlands.
