I agree. We need transparency for tax dollars spent and we desperately need greater conservation efforts for the lake. Continued developments like this are unsustainable and short-sighted. This money should be put toward ecological restoration and smart planning to keep Deep Creek a healthy, desirable destination. We do not need more parking lots.

This is a bad price and idea for the State of MD.. It sounds like a good old boy cronyism deal where the seller gets unwarranted windfall gain on sale while also potentially gaining value on other land holdings near by via park lake access.

I own a home in the Crescent Shores Development which is very near the proposed mini park on Turkey neck. I am opposed to the purchase of the land by the state of Maryland and I am opposed to the development of the mini park. I do not want the traffic, trash, increased noise and the destruction of tress to accommodate the park.

This development should not occur in this portion of the lake which is free of development and has been a family area since the 1950s. This location is not suitable for many reasons - roads will not support access, sewage issues, etc. other developed areas of the lake should be used. Expand the current state park first if needed.

Being a resident of the local community at 144 Cedarbrook Lane, I oppose this public access plan. I agree that dollars would be better spent to improve the already existing State Park on the Lake. Thank you.

This is wetland property and should be preserved environmentally. To try to use this en iron mentally sound land for a public docking area would be a serious misuse of taxpayer's money. I am strongly opposed to this action.

I do not live or own property in Turkey Neck; however, as a taxpayer I am very concerned about the cost of this project. If it is true that the land is being sold for about three times the price as other similar properties I would ask why is there such a price difference? What makes this property worth three times more than any other property and was more than one appraisal obtained.
Second, although I do not live in Turkey Neck, I have a concern about the non-solution to the problem of sewage and trash. Not having trash recepticals and bathrooms does not seem to me to be workable. Go over any road in Garrett County and see the trash tossed out. It is a given that some of those who use the access will leave trash behind. Who will clean it up? It is a given that after several hours boating someone will need to use the bathroom. Will they really wait until they get to Oakland?
I would respectfully request that the answer to why this property is worth more than similar properties recently sold be given and how many appraisals were obtained. I would also like to know why no sewer and trash containers are thought to be a workable solution given human nature.

The safety of walkers and joggers
will be in jeopardy with increased
traffic on a road originally designed only for home-owners. There is a
dangerous curve on Yacht Club Road that inhibits vision.
The State of Maryland needs to examine its budget and determine
if this $1,000,000 purchase benefits the majority of Marylanders.

For the amount of taxes I pay for owning lake front property, I feel we should spend those taxes to improve the current state park facility and not add another debt.
Otherwise discount my taxes instead of spending like this!

The proposed public access would be extremely detrimental to the property owners in the Turkey Neck and Yacht Club area. The road is narrow and not suitable for the anticipated heavy traffic flow. We are requesting that this proposal NOT be passed.
