The proposed oyster farm on the island will leave this stunning place of natural beauty looking and feeling like another industrialised corner of Ireland! An Italian business woman submitted this application and Michael Creed gave it the green light last week. One man's deplorable decision cannot desecrate this island! Help us protect Cruit Island!

Please direct your objection to Mr Michael Creed directly via letter or email [email protected] alongside signing this petition. Direct requests to him are imperative if we are to stop this. An email will take 5mins and you would be greatly contributing to our efforts to stop this so I urge you to please take the time!

Seeing 500 people take a stand to protect Cruit Island is overwhelming and honestly beyond anything I imagined when I started this. This is entirely due to the community coming together to watch over our landscape. Thank you for caring about this place as much as I do.

I have been overwhelmed by the messages reflecting such love for Cruit Island. Your dedication is the only reason this fight has any momentum at all. I am currently working on drafting further responses to the office and will let you know as soon as there is news.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the way you have all stepped up to protect Cruit Island. If everyone reading this could send just one email to the Minister, we might finally turn the tide on this decision.

I use the area for eci-tourism purposes promoting sustainable tourism and enjoyment of the outdoors. An oyster farm, as we know from experiences in Inishowen, would be disastrous in terms of its visual impact and off putting to tourists on this site

This an area of natural beauty that I personally know very well, an oyster farm and anything similar will completely ruin the area. I have seen first hand of what an oyster farm has done to Carrickfinn with the killing of all the local mussel beds.

My people are from here going back many generations many still live in this area why destroy a place of outstanding beauty and peace which is vital to the well being of the creatures and humans who use it for a fast buck

Oyster farms are fine in out of the way places but not in picturesque areas like Cruit, Kincasslagh and Keadue. This is part of the Wild Atlantic Way - what are the government doing? They promote an area for tourism and then assist in destroying it?????

In a highly populated area that depends on tourism, it beggars belief that such an application would be considered. The natural and very much used swimming area under the Cruit Bridge will no loner be available to teach the young to swim if this abomination goes ahead

My Grandmother was born in Cruit Island and as a family we have been coming and going now for 5 generations. Nothing, whether it's environmental or financial will justify allowing this to go ahead.Remember its the people who decide, keep the pressure on and say NO NO NO.
