The federal prison system is cruel. They keep inmates from their families by shipping them as far away as possible. This is beyond punishment, and serves no purpose.

We need to demand prosecution of all abusers in our justice system. Stop the corruption from the court systems to the covering up of human abuse that is really going on in New York jails and prisons. Lets hold prosecutors and prison guards accountable. How can any of them teach anyone not to have violent behavior when they are treated worse than animals, and are met with worse violence and ridicule. It takes a real low life to abuse those that are not allowed to fight back. NO EXCUSES ANYMORE.

visitation is a joke. I witnessed a mother and her two children turned away two days in a row having traveled 700 miles to see her husband and father of those children. She was helpless and no one cared. The staff deliberately are slow in processing paperwork. They are particular about attire some days, and other days they are not. They build anticipation and create an emergency to suspend all visitation for the day. Cruelty at Coleman Correctional Facility.

visitation is a joke. I witnessed a mother and her two children turned away two days in a row having traveled 700 miles to see her husband and father of those children. She was helpless and no one cared. The staff deliberately are slow in processing paperwork. They are particular about attire some days, and other days they are not. I will do everything is my power because the way we treat the least among reflect on our on morality.We as a country should be deeply ashamed by this treatment. How can we chastise other countries for their treatment of peoples when we have a high black eye.

My son is an inmate, he was beaten by 5 COs and a month later he was assaulted again. This time he was beaten and left for dead. The two inmates on both sides of his cell would not stop screaming for help. The CO assigned to his cell block came over looked at him and casually walked away. The two inmates refused to stop screaming until the sergeant came. My son was then taken to an outside hospital. His injuries included both sets of orbital bones were shattered as well as his nose and several teeth. He had contusions over his entire body and a bite to his back. When the CO who left him for dead came back the inmates fought with him because he said "do you know what he is in for?" The inmate's response was "it doesn't matter he is still a human being and doesn't deserve this torture. It's ironic, the nicest people I met in a long time are the inmates that have helped my son. I believe that they saved his life. My son was wrongly accused and we are fighting for his release. My son is barely 5 foot and weighted 135 lbs. To have 5 COs assault him makes you wonder how this can happen. He has been beaten 5 times since his incarceration. He is legally blind without corrective lenses and when he was jumped by the 5 COs they took his glasses. He sustained a ruptured eardrum and has permanent hearing loss. He is now blind and deaf. He never saw his assailants coming. He can't survive another beating. There is so much corruption in our prison system. These COs have an enormous amount of power over the inmates already. They don't need to be assaulting the inmates or getting other inmates to assault those who they don't like. These COs instigate other inmates just to start a fight so that they are justified in joining in. This has to stop. Please I beg you to sign the petition.

Rikers, Woodbourne, Fishkill, Sullivan, Attica, Ulster, and Otisville has a problem with putting their hands on inmates, and the people who run the facilities are in on it as well. They keep giving inmates Tier 3's to keep them in there and stealing their belongings.

Every human makes mistakes , no man or woman deserves to suffer in prision , to such an in humane degree , there needs to be protocals in place , for better safety and medical trement , these people are human beings , the government even has the geniva convention to protect prisioneers of war , we have failed the nations inmates , sure they have done wrong , but no one on earth deserves in humane treatment , some people in prison are mentaly ill and dont have access to proper help , this is not right , we are all children of god , somthing needs to change right now today , prisoneers or not , everyone deserves a safe non abusive right of life , in humane and hurtful things can not be permitted to take place in our prision systoms ,

My husband is as we speak being abused and dehumanized in a Connecticut prison Corrigan Correction. It is the worst treatment of inmates, and families of inmates I have ever seen. The Warden Erfe should be ashamed of the staff at his facility. He has not responded to my issues and they have segregated my husband....he is targeted by power hungry prison people, we need help

there is nothing I would fear more than going to prison in the U.S. I'm not being facetious. I'm not sure what would be worse, solitary confinement in a U.S. prison or incarceration in North Korea.
