Stop Prison Abuse

We call our country the land of the free while looking up more of our citizens than any other country in the world, half of whom are imprisoned for nonviolent or victimless crimes. We pride ourselves on our Constitution while shredding the bill of rights every day. The conditions many prisoners live in are cruel and unusual to any rational person. It's disgusting, it's shameful, and it has to stop.

Hazelton Federal Prison in West Virginia needs to be investigated.

My nephew is currently in prison and being harassed and continually being placed in isolative torture with no explanation to family and probably no explanation to him either. It would not surprise me if his life were in danger

A prisoner that only has 1 leg should not be made to crawl onto a bus for transport to another facility that does not have the means to care for them. They were then left on the bus for 12 hours and returned to the original facility. The trip had no purpose other than to make them fell like animals. They were not helped in any way.

It is discussing the things that the inmates have to endure from the prison staff. Mainly being forced to accept their sexual advances. It is sicking!

I cannot stand this reading horrible stories and to know that my brother is going through this now. God HELP us to help the ones we love and stop this.

I have a friend I've known for 7 years. I am a social worker. He is doing 10 years for burglary (he had a drug problem). He just wrote me that after 3 years in prison with exemplarary reports and he's been progressing to be a class facilitator, a new female guard has accused him of lewd and laviscious behavior. She said he was masterbating while laying on the bunk in the open bay. I know my friend is really irrational while on drugs, but when he's doing time he has always been on best behavior. My friend said all the other prisoners nearby wrote statements saying there's no way he could have been masterbating and no one not see him and that he was not doing that but their word doesn't seem to count. Also his classification officer told me he also tends to not believe my friend would display this type of behavior, yet he gave him 60 days of seclusion where he says it's very very hot, and dark. Are we completely powerless.. can any sadistic guard just do whatever he or she pleases? this female guard has put 4 other guys in seclusion for same charges.

Many people labeled felons become permanently exclude from jobs, housing, and other social norms. In order to improve the rates of full re-entry into society, we must improve prisons' education and rehabilitation programs.

The inhumane treatment of prisoners, has resulted in mental deterioration, psycholigical illness, humiliation,safety concerns, lack of much needed medical care. They are already in prison paying for their crime they don't need to be victimized and degraded along with incarceration. IT MUST END NOW!

the abuse have to stop its getting worse and not having the right medical treatment is unfair, something needs to be done!!

These officers do it and brag about it belittling black men. Officers paid to abuse these human beings.

my brother is being abused at pleasent valley state prison called the govnor jerry brown thy said to contact ombudsman tryd calling them no answer yet i need to help to protact my bro i pray for to god to watch over him keep him safe.not only are the guards mistreating my bro but we also have to worry bout valley fever witch is a PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY.what doesnt the prison system thinking.not only are the inmates dieding but staff as well.from catching valley fever.why hasnt anyone done anything.bout this and prison guards abusing inmates killing inmates abusing there authory this is america.whats this world coming too.prisoners are people too they do have rights just becuz there in prison jail give them no rite to be beat on killed mistreated and put were there lifes are on the line foe death.it is so wrong would thy lik it if there loved one was being done this way .please help my bro fro being mistreated and from gettibg valley fever and dieding .

I have a cousin (Micheal Massey) in federal prison who is being mistreated by the prison warden, prison officers and prison doctor. He has serious medical issues which are not being addressed and now they have gone as far to take away his clothes and bed linens and given him paper clothes and paper sheets. He will be getting out soon but it seems that they are attempting to try to break him so that he either commits suicide or has an accidental death. It saddens me to know that he is being mistreated in such a way and that the prison allows it and encourages the mistreatment of inmates. My family has tried calling prison as well as contacted the us attorney and whomever else we were told to contact and still no results. I understand that prisons are viewed as a business(profitable). But that does not mean that prisoners as to be considered less than human. I pray that he makes it out of the prison alive.

my son has been incarcerated for 20 years and he has never shared anything about abuse.However I believe that is because he would fear reprisal.believeAmerican involvement with animal cruelty supersedes our humanitarian interest.

My oldest daughter got 8 years at 17yrs.old...its awful in prison.....
