Stop Prison Abuse

It is appalling the way inmates are treated. They are disrespect and disregarded as human beings. They are given the bare minimum and expected to accept it without question. They are embarrassed, humiliated and retaliated against when speaking up for their rights and the rights of their family. Something is terribly flawed in the system's ladder of supervision designin place to monitor and protect incarcerated loved ones.

If we are sending these folks away,let's treat them with respect. Most have lost their dignity with the disrecpect they are given with officers, not all, that really want to show some authority, which sometimes can be harsh.

Hello, my name is Jake Guerrero, I have a sibling who is incarcerated and is currently going through an episode of inmate misconduct. theres been others in the past and has been going through this one for the past month or so and he's getting desperate for so help from the outside. Is there anything you can do to help, point in the right direction, a person to contact or whatever it maybe to help him out other than me signing this petition. We must stop this abuse of our fellow man! The saddest part is how misinformed the public is about what really goes on. God forbid you or someone you love should make a mistake or be falsely accused of a crime. By then it is too late. The guards, nurses, and staff in these jails and prisons beat mentally ill prisoners, withhold medical care, food and blankets. Dinner is literally slop. A slice of rotten bologna on white bread. These are human beings sometimes in jail for the crime of being poor. Heartbreaking.

Stop the inhumane treatment of people. Investigate all abuses by inmates as well as guards.

I am well aware (in large part from personal experience) of the human rights violations that exist in the corrections systems as a whole in the USA, as well as Canada and in Mexico.

I do not see how they want our loved ones to come out changed if they treat them the way some of these units do. My husband was told that he is wrong no matter if he did not do anything wrong. I feel helpless. Prayers to all the families with loved ones in the prison system.

It is what America has become, just discussing the treatment of humans. It is not rehabilitation it a flesh for cash system. treating people worse than animals. This is got to stop! It raise voices money what ever it takes.

the medical care in federal holding facilities, jails and prisons is deplorable!!! my daughter has been in ocilla ga for a little over a month. she now has bells palsy, her right foot is breaking out in weeping blisters all over her foot, has had a sinus infection for over a week and now has bronchitis. and much of nothing is being done. she is prescribed medicine but is not receiving it. no inhaler, a few antibiotics, and a few tylenol has been the extent of any treatment! granted she is in there as punishment but there is no need to treat her as less than an animal. this kind of treatment or lack there of, needs to be corrected for ALL prisoners!!!.

I have a brother in prison in Lawton,Ok. He is going through the same thing. There should be a stop put to this kind of abuse. After all their still human beings

this needs to stop especially in new york state.

Prison abuse continues to be a major problem in America and the CO's in many of the penal facilities are so corrupt it is disgusting. Stop Prison Abuse and the wholesale warehousing of black males in America!!

Abusing inmates is a disgusting problem in the correctional facilities. I have family that have been abused by corrupt correction officers. Inmates are people not slaves to be beat and mistreated

I demand an end to over-incarceration and abuses inside prisons. Period.

My nephew, who suffers from mental illness, is currently in Federal prison, pretrial. Not only is he not getting proper mental health care, he's just being given pills that don't work, not therapy, but when he informed an officer that he needed a call put in to psychology he was told by that officer, "I only have 4 hours left on my shift. I don't have the time and I can't be bothered." My nephew then asked, " and if I said I felt like hurting myself?" to which the officer replied with the same line that he didn't have the time and could not be bothered. I was told by my nephews lawyer that we could make a complaint, however, he informed me that my nephew could face consequences, like having his phone time stopped or being reported as non-cooperative. Those who work in our prison systems, especially with the mentally ill need to be screened and trained more fully. This is outrageous and should never happen in the United States of America.

My nephew was in the county jail for repeated mild domestic issues and was assaulted by another prisoner twice with guard present. He was placed into protective isolation (I'm against isolation too) when he was out for his daily hour (with one useless guard he was assaulted again and sustained a serious skull fracture.

I have son who is being abused by prison officials now please help me make a stand

I think the system has to change so many inmates are getting stab just like my son he was there 22 days. I don't understand how the system is so harsh with people given them a life time of years. And some inmates do others wrong and they just integrate them and they get away with it. I fear for my son and others life being in prison. My heart gos out to my son and others.

This is a very real issue that needs to be stopped. Prisoners must pay their debt to society but getting beat up/ starved/not allowed privileges is not acceptable.
