Stop Prison Abuse

The inmate abuse is not just at the state and federal level. The LYCOMING COUNTY PRISON (LCP) in Williamsport Pa. a a great example of things gone wrong.. Contacts to report to local, state and federal levels go unchecked. State and federal officials simply reply we have no jurisdiction at the county prisons. The local prison board is comprised of all county employees and fails to admit any wrong doing. The records indicate otherwise with many reports and law suits against LCP. Most suits are dismissed due to filing errors or because they were not addressed with the Warden first. A report to the prison board is always just spun back to the Warden in a cycle that goes no where. Intervention and transparency is needed.

It has come to my attention that we have hate crimes going on in Pocohontas correctional center in Pocahontas va. Black inmates are being mistreated and abused on a regular. We have contacted DOC. The response we received states that they don't won't to get involved at this time. Please advise.

I have loved ones in the NewYork state prisons and often times they are not let you out to eat or not given medication

My son has been a victim of this in NYS Corrections. Please help them too.

It is really horrible to see how the prison systems are treating people. It is bad enough that they are taken away from there families and friend let alone have to be called names everyday and physically abused like dogs that are being trained to fight.. Then people wonder why most people that go to prison end up back there.. A lot of times I think people feel like they are not worthy of living a normal or decent life because there minds are being warped and corrupted by our U.S. prison systems..

We have a system of justice that is the model and envy of so many around the world. However, in order to uphold that position, we must not allow the abuse of inmates to go remain unchecked or prosecuted. Guards who commit abuse are nothing more than criminals themselves.

Prison should be a place for rehabilitation; we should not allow rape and physical abuse inside prisons.

My grandsons are currently incacerated and I am their voice. The prisoners need the love and support of the community. Especially those who are willing to stand up and make a difference. I would like to see this petition reach the goal requested.

I was incarcerated an just recently got out. I know the abuse takes place because I was once abused and treated inhuman. So I would like to push this petition forward.Thank you in the help you are providing to make this possible.

The abuse has to stop. I have loved ones that are currently incarcerated an the treatment that any prisoner/ inmate endures is inappropriate. I am concerned about not only my loved ones safety, but the safety of all prisoners/ inmates.

Medical in the prisons suck.They dont help no one.They keep pushing it back and say nothing is wrong with you.when it is they all lie.

I strongly, agree with the need for a immediate change for the mistreatment of jail inmates and prisoners. I currently have two brothers in the jail system who are currently being mistreated everyday. One of my brothers have recently been attacked in jail by other inmates. His jaw broken after he was hit in the head repeatedly with a sock full of soap. During this time, his 8th amendment rights were violated along with other rights. He did not receive the proper medical care doing this time. Instead, he was forced to wait in horrific pain for over two weeks before he had the surgery to correct his broken jaw that had to be rebroken because to much time had passed after Marksville Detention Center of Marksville , Louisiana failed to take him to his initial surgery appointment that was schedule one day after the incident occurred. Also, my brothers have been in jail for there current charges for 9 months with no evidently linking them to the crime that they have been accused of, as well as, they have stayed the majority of their time in the hole for no legitimate reason at all. I have whoever is fighting this fight back 100% and I will to do my part too, because the mistreatment and violating of the rights of jail inmates and prisoners needs to change today. It is very scary when you have not heard from your loved one in a month and have no idea what has happened. Then they come out of lockdown only to tell you someone tried to kill them. This violence inside of the prisons need to stop. And if the prisons were set up to rehabilitate I believe a lot of the violence would cease because people will be working toward a goal. Another thing, how dare someone sentence people to prison when they have never done time themselves? How does one know what amount of prison time fits the crime if the sentencer has never experienced prison? Food for thought.

I am so incensed with guards in prison who actually draw a paycheck to beat on another human being. You can count on me to do whatever it takes to be a part of stopping this abuse. It's obvious the people they hire have issues themselves to be " ok" with doing these things to other humans. Cameras everywhere is what's needed along with stern Captains who discipline the guards. It's an uphill battle because tooo many people are without integrity among other things today. No one cares until their loved one is incarcerated. It's human slavery today, what are we a third world country with this kind of treatment??? Where is the civility????

Im sickened that Americas prisons are concentration camps. Who's taking responsibility for our youth at The Dozier School of torment and murder??? My brother is currently imprisoned for a non violent crime of being behind the wheel of a vehicle when his license is suspended is fighting for his life. He has a serious prostrate issue that requires medication to be able to use the restroom. He gets repeatedly ignored when gently asking for treatment as inmates are afraid to even ask out of fear. This disgust me and I want to know who is going to take accountability for this lawlessness?!!! So I say to those of you in authority to do something about the abuse and neglect and unspeakable evils going on behind prison walls, the blood of these people will be on your hands. You will one day answer for your crime of not upholding justice in this land when you had the power to do so. I also implore you America, many imprisoned are there for non violent crimes. They are thrown into the mix of murderers, rapist, gangs and corrupt guards who are a law unto themselves. They have a right to humane treatment but are being beaten, abused, some fed rotten food, they are dieing in there, most for lack of basic medical care. Im not gonna stop until the whole world knows whats going on, this is genocide! And for profit, shame on all you takers, God have mercy!
