Stop Portland City Council from Ignoring Neighborhood Associations

Through involvement with our neighborhood association we have a conduit to the City government. This has been important in bringing neighborhood issues to the City government during the many years we have lived in our neighborhood.

I think neighborhood associations, by in large, have the best interests of the neighbors in mind and help people have a voice.

In the face of an increasing feeling of powerlessness let us not destroy this bit of access to control of what goes on in our individual back yards.

Preserve the old 3.96. Neighborhood Associations are a GOOD THING and are by nature inclusive! This was ramrodded through and is beyond careless

We are Portland, listen to us , value our input.

Neighborhood Assns. are a key way to inform citizens, to discover our neighbors' concerns, & to give feedback. It is a small 'd' form of democracy in Portland. Yes, NA's can be improved, but they should not be downgraded (or later eliminated?) in this fashion.

The Neighborhood Associations are necessary for civic participation. The effort by certain City Council members is an effort to disenfranchise participation. Do not permit the effort to silence neighborhood involvement in the city.

Neighborhood associations are one of the best things about living in Portland.

Please don’t let Eudaly take away the neighborhood associations - many of whom completely disagree with her positions - just do she can destroy this valuable neighborhood tool. We must not vote Eudaly into office again.

I have belong to neighborhood associations in three states for over 30 years. They are vital to locals having a voice in their neighborhoods.

Cathedral Park neighborhood - Ridiculous proposal. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water.

They are trying to destroy what little power neighbors have. Don’t let them.

I find this so distasteful as we should be trying to raise other groups up instead of bringing NA's down.

Madison South Neighborhood

PLEASE do not take away the only voices we seem to have in Portland. The fact is that we in the neighborhoods have no say as to what the developers are doing. I live in Sellwood. The land of no parking and new small wooden boxes that people are expected to pay high rents to live in. You should be ashamed of taking away the only voice we might have. You do not have to represent a specific constituency and it is showing in how you are destroying our city with your No off street parking and corner lot build outs.

I oppose the changes to Code 3.96. While I support inclusiveness, I believe that there are a lot of benefits of feeling included in your neighborhood and knowing you have a voice in the representation of that neighborhood.

Overlook resident for 23 years. We need to keep our neighborhood voice to the city council. The associations should be strengthened.
