Stop Portland City Council from Ignoring Neighborhood Associations

Completely against the will of the people. Please sign!!! PDX needs new form of city government or at least new members now!

The new code would strip all power from organizations (including neighborhood associations) and give recognition only to those on a list created by Suk Rhee. This is about taking power from the people and giving it to an unelected autocrat.

NA are essential for Portland and the decisions being made for Portland. Government must not ignore what the needs of the people are, which include the NA.

NA have always been important for Portland, and they must continue to be heard.

The city has a history of failing to meet it's obligation where NA's are concerned. That the answer they have come up with is to get rid of them rather than offer the support they need is typical for City of Portland staff that continue to fail at delivery to the tax payers of Portland. I am on a local board and have seen first hand how the coalition office and Civic Life fail to act, offer meaningful training, hold any NA accountable, and frankly advice to get rid of the system that pays them. I have seen the very high staff turn over in the Coalition office that has been utterly ignored for the horribly impact it has on our communities. I have seen the grievance process fail to take care of gross misconduct. I have seen favoritism in how services are delivered. I have also seen the access that an NA provide be well used to support our community. I have seen amazing project that would not be possible under the proposed changes. Offering to take down NA's in favor of nothing is failure. Offering a special people list for the director is horrible for the forward movement of our city. I suggest, the city needs to invest in the NA's system in a meaningful way. 1. uniform set of bylaws to be a working NA. (preferably not crafted by this kangaroo court) 2. Out reach and engagement training to all NA's 3. Website and social development (Civic life should offer a basic website template and mandate adherence) 4. Prove your with standards that note engagement is tied to existence 5. TERM LIMITS for all board members in all board positions. (Lents suffered from a Land use person that would never go away and would alienate people left and right. ad with minutes and input from many we could come up with a total of 10 that would redefine the landscape addressing all that is wrong with the system and empowering our ENTIRE city. In this case the voice of a very small number of hand picked people will impact 95 neighborhood groups and millions of Port

Please keep the NAs prominently involved to keep an eye and provide a voice on the city's projects and future plans. At the same time, we need more people to become more fully engaged by attending NA and Business Association meetings and/or call or write the city, state, and fed representatives.

`we the people` need neighborhood association to be heard but we can still vote against those trying to take this right away.

The lone citizen can be ignored. An association of citizens has to be dealt with. Keep our NAs in tact.

The Council "government" of Portland is NOT working. It does not represent its constituents and now it wants to further disenfranchise the voters by removing one of the only ways neighborhoods have to distinguish themselves and send messages with any clout to the City. afraid of democracy-Portland??!!!!

Dismantling or disempowering Portland's unique system of neighborhood associations is so wrong-headed and damaging on so many levels. Why not support inclusivity, diversity, and social equity within existing system, instead of elimination of NA's with hopes that some new, improved system of citizen involvement and effective representation will arise from the wreckage? The bare minimum within this code change should involve running thru possible - and existing- scenarios (ie, hazmats on railways stored near neighborhoods, mega-developments in residential areas, toxic air emissions, etc) as to how the community can effectively organize and act- and how the city under OCCL will respond.

Neighborhood associations are important for citizens quality of life. Thanks

Listen to the neighborhoods! Ignore the developers!

If you let them- they will take away our voice and what will happens in our neighborhoods, we are the fabric holding our community together !

Don’t like to deal with the wishes of your constituents? That must be why you at the cot want to abolish our voice! I’m For keeping the neighborhood associations functioning as they are!

Please do not strip the power of our Portland grassroots neighborhood associations. Such assiciations speak from the the heart of our democracy and should not be legally silenced.

Neighborhoods are the basic building blocks of any municipality why destroy this fundamental principle....not in favor of the advisory group proposal at all.

Leave it as it is at this time!!!

This is nothing more than a high handed, outrageous attempt to unilaterally eliminate local control of our neighborhoods in favor of developers' interests. Shame on our elected officials. They have betrayed us.

Our neighborhood associations are extremely important to livable neighborhoods. To eliminate them is to create chaos. Residents should have a say about how their neighborhood is changed. My feeling is that duplexes are fine but any new construction should not tower over neighboring homes and the design should blend with existing homes. The city is going too far with the proposed changes in that it is designed to erase the livability of our city.
