Couldn't agree more. The songs aren't even that good.

I have been saying this sense I came to CU in 2017 (I'm in my last year of my M.Div now). I am so glad somone is trying to do something, although they are not going to listen.

I have already talked with some people about this and I fully heartily agree

Fully support. Even if the music itself seems acceptable, we shouldn’t be supporting heresy.

Thanks for putting the work into this. I have always been wishing for more Christ centered, scripture focused songs in chapel (when they play Hillsong). I have always thought in the back of head, these songs from Hillsong and Elevation worship are always "wandering" and just throw a bunch of spiritual words that rhyme into a few repetitive verses. I don't believe this is a great way to glorify God in music.

I don’t get why they think we all love these songs! Heartsong can hear the difference in how the student body sings a Bethel song verses how they all sing hymns or even songs from the Gettys or Matt Papa! The students around me light up when they get to sing a hymn, which may have a memory connected, and that shows me how they are unconsciously accepting lyrics that aren’t safe. Most days I don’t sing, cause I don’t listen to or sing music from these companies, so I’m sure there are more people that feel this way too. Thank you so much for making this change a possibility for the current and future students!!

Glad someone took the time to do this

I would rather worship with a song that everybody knows than just stand there and read off a screen. Also the many of the songs don't have much depth to them. Please sing some hymns.

I think Heartsong should crack open a hymnal more often.

I’ve seen the damage these “churches” do to people. They are wrapped in eastern mysticism and emotionalism. Just listen to the lies their leaders say about the Persons of the Trinity and about signs. They preach the dangerous prosperity gospel. Their music is designed to draw people in to believing their lies. Flee from this. I wholeheartedly support this petition.

I'm not a huge fan of the genre, anyway.

I do not believe that all of Bethel/Hillsong/Elevation's songs are equally heretical.. I think you have to take them on a case by case basis. My argument is that they are not the best songs to be singing to worship our God and for the edification of his children. Some of them are downright heretical - does that honor our holy God? There are so many better, more God-focused and doctrinally-sound songs out there.

I fully support this petition and hope many others will too! We must not take the incredible privilege of worshiping the One True God lightly. We must call out heresy when we see it and we must protect this amazing university and those that call it home from cults and false teachers listed in this petition. There are so many biblically sound worship leaders out there with amazing music!

I totally support this cause and hope it succeeds! We need to stop paying cults to use their music in chapel.
