Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor recently highlighted the price gouging like practices of Tallahassee area hotel leaders and companies against the parents, alumni, supporters, and constituents of Florida State University and Florida A&M University. This petition is intended to change these practices.
Sign the petition if you are tired of Tallahassee area hotels driving up hotel prices during FAMU and FSU events. Over the years, hotel prices drastically increase in Tallahassee during major university events like graduations, family parent's weekend, homecoming, football games, and other special occasions associated with FAMU and FSU sponsored activities.

This needs to stop, I honestly refuse to pay these prices. Therefore I haven’t been to FAMU HC in 10 years and I’m not the only one.
You know it’s terrible when motel 6 charges over 200$ for a room that’s normally 69$!!!
The last time I attended a FAMU homecoming (3 years ago), I spent close to $1,000 for three nights lodging. The cost of lodging affects my ability to attend. This must stop!
It is ridiculous! We had to spend almost $700.00 to stay in a hotel that was under construction while attending my grandmother’s funeral just because it happened on a game weekend.
Truly unfortunate that the city (chamber of commerce) and the hotels must collaborate to elevate prices. 10-25% based on supply and demand may be suitable .....but 200% is just silly and greedy.
Stop price gauging!!
These prices are ridiculous. Tallahassee has something constantly that attracts people to the city so this price Increases aren’t necessary.

Prices are enormously high during special events but the hotels do nothing different to compensate for the higher price. We receive the exact same service. We are paying luxury priced for mediocre service. We support you Tallahassee stop price gouging!
