I’ve lived here forty years my whole life. These store allow all of our visitors to take home a little piece of Jekyll. Many look forward to coming back to visit these stores. What will go here? Just an empty building on display? I believe the information boards explain what these places were used for & guest love to shop & take in the history. Love Jekyll but don’t take away the things that make us unique!

So glad I enjoyed Jekyll before it was "saved and restored". It is ruined by greed.

I was saddened when I heard this. JIA could have gone about this in a fair fashion but chose not to. It's a blemish on their integrity.

The shop owners of Just By Hand are both handicapped. Mr. Hart has Parkinson’s Disease and Mrs. Hart has a deformed left ankle and severe scolioses. Is this what progress and the bottom line means to a disabled couple that will lose everything?

This situation was poorly handled by the Jekyll Island Authority. I feel sorry for the shop owners. 90 day notice is a very short amount of time, and not enough time to find another location, sell off inventory and fixtures, etc. It'll be hard to trust the Authority after this.

I support small business. The shop Just by Hand supports local crafters. Closing this shop not only hurts them but All their supporting suppliers. Please stop the plan to close the small businesses along Pier Road Historic District on Jekyll Island

I am from TN but make an annual trip to Jekyll at Christmas. I was just discussing with my husband that the island is no longer the same and we will make different plans.

Many don't go to Jekyll for " vibrant. " Pretty underhanded move by this Governor appointed board. Pretty suspicious not releasing future plan (sounds like we have to vote for it before we read it-where has that happened before?) Has all earmarks of a "land grab." Pretty pathetic...

This is my first time at the island, visiting with my husband and his family who have been coming for over a decade. I can’t believe this even has to be signed. I hope nothing happens to these shops, they are part of the island. Please reconsider. I hope to be back and I’d love if they were still here.

These shops are more beautiful then anything that can replace them.

This move by the JI Board may have been legal, but it was certainly underhanded. This is a warning to small businesses on Jekyll Island, there is nothing to stop the JI Board from doing the same to you!
