We visit the area every year and have for the past 10 years. We visit Jeykll Island at least 10 times during our months stay. With that visiting and shopping in the historic district is a very special experience. These small shops offer a very diverse shopping experience for our family. This is very sad news that they are being forced out after so many years.

I'm so so saddened to hear this. The shops at pier rd, are the only shops I ever go to because they are local folks working hard as anyone else trying to make it in today's economy. My heart bleeds for you and I sure hope my signature helps change this decision.

Leave them be, it adds to the character and charm of the island. I’ve been frequent in my annual stays there. Let JI BE!

Those shops support local artists. Closing them affect a lot of people. Faces that you don’t see behind the scenes that make it all work.

Leave those shops alone or give them some type of reasonable options. What you are doing is terrible and you are effecting their livelihood. Stop this immediately!!!!

I’m thankful to live close to beautiful Jekyll Island. I have so many memories of trips and browsing in the shops in the historic district. I’d hate to see them go out of business.

My wife and I have spent winters on Jekyll Island since 1998. The historic and low key nature of the island are what of the attracted s to it. It is a welcome contrast to the glitz of Florida. What is being done is travesty and ruins the character of the island. WE have enjoyed visiting these shops frequently and do not want lose them.

As a lifelong resident of Glynn County, these businesses have been part of the charm of the historic district. Tradition is priceless.

These little independents make the world go around. The big companies will just dump you if not profitable in one year.

Please stop turning beautiful Jekyll Island into SSI. I've lived here 35 years and watched the elevation of the $ sign to a space usually left for spiritual matters.

This movement by JIA is unbelievable !!!! Jekyll. Island has become a huge attraction to tourists and local residents over the past few years. Top class hotels and restaurants are available for all. Surely the JIA is aware of the historical significance that draws people from all walks of life!! Please do not take away the leased property and wellbeing of the shop owners.
