Stop Ousting of Pier Road Historic District Shops in Jekyll Island

My wife, myself and our children have always chosen Jekyll as our vacation constant. Now our three daughters their husbands and children have followed the tradition. These "shops" that you intend to remove in the interest of greed, are one of the features that keep us coming back year after year. Sadly to say, you get rid of the shops...you get rid of us as well..of course I can't help but believe that may also be part of your objective as well. If the state of Georgia let's this happen. Then you deserve the results that follow: loss of revenue, loss of reputation and loss of the resulting growth of the surrounding area.

The charm of the state of Georgia is being threatened by greed. Please keep the beauty and community feeling in Jeckyl Island. It is one of my favorite places on earth… as it is.

I love visiting the Island and I love all these shops! The history and the shops have always been such a treat and bring so much value to visitors that come from out of town to explore.

What a shame to lose the great, old shops if that’s what happens.
If the State takes over they’ll be destined to fail. Big government never works. Those leading this decision should be ashamed of themselves.

The shops are one of the main attractions for us on the island for many decades . If these shops are removed all that will be left are the generic tourist beach shops, and we will be forced to reconsider our annual trips to the island!

We have been coming to Jekyll Island for 40+ years. These locally owned small businesses are an integral part of the island and why we love coming here. Please help find a way to keep these businesses on the island. Pier Road is perfect as it is.

These quaint and unique stores are invaluable to the visitors of JI. We are saddened that the dedicated shop owners have had the rug pulled from under their livelihood and hard work. So sad.

These people, and others like them, are the heart and soul of Jekyll Island. Very very very disappointed to hear what JIA is doing to these small businesses.
