Do not force them out. There is enough "new direction" BS going on Jekyll already. Why can't you people learn?

Added: When visiting the Island with friends/company, we go to the historic area first! Jekyll needs to be kept as it is. There are enough other commercial Island/towns to visit if that is your interest. Jekyll is getting greedy and is becoming too expensive.

Please stop trying to make the island that I love so much unaffordable for normal families. Please stop commercializing and make Jekyll Island a place for the wealthy only!! I love these independent shops and mostly spend my money in those shops on unique items. Our 3-4 times a year visits will likely lesson or end altogether with the current changes being made. Please reconsider and keep the island the way it is!!

For 20 yr. Sandy Paws - Greyt Fun in the Sun, has been holding it's annual greyhound event on the Island. Our participants shop these stores!

Travel to the island every year and would been extremely disappointed if the ambiance of the island changes. The shops keep me coming A little piece of the past. How sad if we lose this.

These shops are integral to experience of spending time in the historic district and are not duplicated elsewhere.

It seems that the JIA wants to create a very poor replication of the tourist traps at Myrtle Beach. It makes you wonder if history, traditions, and natural beauty, mean anything to the folks who want to move (as their spokesperson revealed, in the garish direction of the commercial shops near the big box convention center.

I’ve spent a week at Jekyll after Christmas for the past 12 years. I look forward to seeing the decorations and visiting the district shops for their unique items. These add to the charm of the island. Without them it wouldn’t be the same

This is the most dreadful thing I have heard of that our dear shops have NO CHOICE but to close their doors!!!! My family has vacationed on Jekyll Island since 1998 and ALWAYS go to the shops!! Everyone needs to just vacation elsewhere to an island or place that is more caring. The shops are a part of Jekyll Island!!! How dare you abandon them!!!!

Do not close these shops we love them !!! Been shopping there for 30 years. You should have met with them instead of sending certified letter so very wrong !!!! You are destroying the charm and appeal of the island !!! You are taking owner’s ability to earn a living along with their employees.
