The shops in this area support local and worldwide artists that take pride in providing quality handmade collectibles for the discerning visitor. I have been coming to the island for over 30 years with my family and I have always sought gifts from these institutions. It is OUTRAGEOUS that they are being forced to close. You need to serious consider the economic impact this will have on the owners of these shops, but the revenue that they bring to the island overall. If this happens, I fear JIA will not be hearing the end of this for a LONG TIME!

How sad. My wife and I have been vacationing on Jekyll Island since the 1980s. It just won't be or feel the same when this is done. Are they just going to tear down the shops or just put in ones of their own. Don't do this.

Those shops have been vital to the ambiance of the island. This is unfair to the owners and to our visitors and guests. Please cease and desist with this travesty. Or please advise the community what your plans are for the future. You obviously have plans. Fess up .

So sad to see JIA pull the wool over these business owners. The lack of foreknowledge for such a devastating move is unforgivable.The number of signatures just after posting proves that people are totally disappointed with the lack of forthrightness

Have come down every fall and winter to enjoy Jekyll Island, and have been considerable money at the shops. Love them.
