Stop Ousting of Pier Road Historic District Shops in Jekyll Island

Please don’t remove these beloved businesses. These owners have worked hard and do NOT deserve to be ousted!

Change is not always good. These types of businesses helped make JI the destination it is .

The shops on Pier Road is one of the main reasons I shop on Jekyll Island.

I am absolutely devastated and angered!!! Those shops are one of the main reasons I love coming to the island and even staying at the Jekyll Island Club. This has been our go to destination for years, as well as our children and grandchildren. If this goes through, we may have to find somewhere else to go. I am sorely disappointed in the Jekyll Island Authority and truly is affecting my attitude toward visiting the island if this goes through!

Please don't ruin the charm of this island.

Please don’t close the shops!!!!

I look forward to visiting & patronizing these shops on every JI visit… please reconsider this decision - or at least postpone it. Thank you.

If this attitude continues to prevail ther will be nothing on Jekyll Island that reminds of the uniqueness, we don’t all want Dollywood, nothing personal Dolly! Keep history and uniqueness alive! Save Jekyll from lame stream!

This is so sad and so shameful of the authority. The small shops is what gives Jekyll the charm

I have grown up and lived in the Golden Isles for 41 years. It is shameful to do this to small business owners who have been a huge asset to Jekyll Island for decades. They are losing their livelihood, means to support their families, years of hard work and dedication. If this goes forward not I, or anyone of my extended family members will spend one dime on Jekyll ever again as we have ever since I can remember. This is wrong on so many levels. These shops are what make Jekyll Island a unique and memorable experience.

We need independent business owners!

JIA is disgusting. They are ruining our island.

Horrified at what JIA is doing to the businesses after all these years serving the locals and tourists Reminds me of the pharmacy that was in the old shopping area that also got booted out because JI A had no space to accommodate them at the new shopping sits. Makes me sick!

This is absolutely ridiculous!!!

I love those shops and have family who always wants to visit them when they come from out of state. Additionally, I love eating there when I’m just wandering around the park. It would be a travesty to shut these places down!

A very sad commentary on HIA that was supposed to protect the interests of the island. Shameful!

As former Cottage owners, one of the highlights of our visits to Jekyll Island was always going to the historic district and perusing and seeing the quality and uniqueness of the shops owned by different individuals. Having the JIA controlling all the shops would take away from the originality and charm of the island, don’t you think? Please change your stance and allow the store owners to continue with their individual leases.

Don’t do it!!! Great stores! So much personality! STOP messing with history!

Please do not shut down all the small businesses in the Historic Jekyll Island. These. businesses are part of the history of the island
