After vacationing on Jekyll for over 40 years, this year may be the last time. This island was given to the state with the promise it was remain accessible for all citizens of the state of Georgia. It appears the Authority has other plans. Way to destroy a good thing all over money and control. Bye,

We visit every year and I just stopped by the sweet shop to take my daughter and it was shuttered. The next day I went to pick up my favorite salsa and always check out the ither shops only to find out they were gone. I am so sad and surprised everything is changing on the island. No more pier road shops, no driftwood bistro, no reserve restaurant ( now something else) I told my husband that this vacation jekyll island has broken my heart and I don't wanna come back for awhile.

Bigger isn't always better. These shops are unique to Jekyll Island. Keep them open.

The historic district and the shops are essential for the overall ambience. I have been going over 20 years and will definitely miss it if forced to close.

It would be a shame if the historical district shops went my family has been coming here for decades, 60 something years at this point and we love the shops and will miss them if they go. They make the island special and unique.

This shopping center is what makes Jekyll unique. It's not boring touristy stuff you get at every beach you go to. People want to buy art, not printed things that say Jekyll that cost $100. If you want people to keep coming to the shops, and Jekyll, unique is best in a market saturated with stuff that's unremarkable.

I have visited Jekyll Island historic shops for 15+ years and am saddened and angry the local shop owners are being forced out for some commercial shops.

We don’t want JIA to take over the historic district shops! We’ve been coming to JI for over 50 and enjoying these specialty shops and galleries! Leave them alone!!

It’s a shame to see the current shops being forced to close. We’ve been coming here for decades and always enjoy the handmade items here. I hope the Authority reconsiders this decision!

Our family has visited Jekyll every summer for the past 12years. We love the shops in the historic district and look forward to visiting them and buying souvenirs and gifts every summer. What a tradgedy and mistake to close these shops! Please keep them open for families like ours to continue to enjoy!

We've been visiting here my whole life, it is insane to kick out the small business / long-time shop owners for this. They are what makes Jekyll, Jekyll.

The island would not be the same without the pier road shops. Leave them alone!

The shops in millionaire village need to stay. They are part of the experience of the island.
