Both North Finchley and Whetstone effectively have free parking via supermarkets - and look at their thriving high streets. Local councellors should be ashamed of themselves not to support some form of free parking in High Barnet - how bad does it have to get? Residents can see it, and councellors are ment to represent us WAKE UP!!

I support this proposal but is Barnet not already dead? I don't believe Barnet Council knows what is best for the High Street and sees parking as a cash cow to support Council income. It's sad to see that in the thirty years I have live in Barnet how downbeat the high street and the comunity has become. ?

shocked how difficult it is to park free in Barnet. fantastic selection of banks and all round shops although sad that so many shops don't last because of high rents

I absolutely agree with this - charging to park in Barnet will discourage casual use of the shops and is bad news for local businesses and local people.

Payment by phone is too arduous if you haven't already registered. By offering one hour pit stops this will help inject some much needed cash into the high street!
