It would be better to pedestrianise the High Street.

Budleigh has not had an increase of Covid cases so far. Leave the High Street access as it is to give the local shops a chance to continue their good work. Local traders have made a huge effort to keep the people of Budleigh supplied with food and other essentials - please don't ruin months of hard and difficult work with this ridiculous one way system.

I believe there is a danger to life and property with the increased traffic turning right from Upper Stoneborough Lane to head back into town. The visibility at that junction is exceptionally poor. This already posses a risk that increases with the higher volume of traffic at that junction.

A nonsensical proposal that will cause mayhem. Have the council lost sense and are wanting to cripple the local shops that have been struggling for over three months? A stupid idea that wants abandoning instantly

....please, please listen to the people that run businesses and provide services along the street as they are the few that know how the “life” of the town actually works......

I think this is a terrible idea. The planners need to re think this.

It is my view that the parking spaces should be taken away and the pavements widened rather than a one way system installed as the shops will loose much business. I live in Granary lane and I would need to drive a full circle to shop. It is creating a racing track. If this has to happen then it should be one way in and not out to support trade and tourism.

Outside of Tesco and Spar the pavement is about as narrow as it is outside the CoOp, plus the restriction of a rack of plants. Yet there is no apparent proposal to remove parking or go for a one way system in Fore Street. Despite the pavement queues, especially during restocking, the Town Council apparently sees no social distancing problem here. So what is the real motive for the proposed High Street measures?

I think this a bad idea for the businesses in the town

I used to live in Devon and still visit regularly. This is ridiculous.

If maintainong social distancing outside Budleigh High Street shops was the real motive of our Town councillors, then why is there no proposal to remove parking and plants outside Tesco / Spar where pavement is just as narrow as outside the Co-Op? Why was no traffic survey apparently undertaken? Answers to these and many other questions I still await from the Town Clerk.

Given the size of the town this is a mad idea.

Please consider local people and their wishes and don’t bulldoze through with bad decisions in the same way Exmouth has.

No need for a one way system, at the moment it slows the traffic down having to give way to others, and to do away with parking in the high street is not very kind to those who cannot walk very far. The high street shops need all the help they can get to recover from the lockdown not have even more restrictions put in place. No way to one way.

One of the distinguishing features of Budleigh is the ability to drive through, park, support our local shops and get back out again. There may have been some sense in some kind of temporary system way back in March or early April but what is the point now? Those of our precious shops who have managed to survive have finally been able to open and the council is rewarding them by putting obstacles in their way to attract customers. Ridiculous plan, let's hope that common sense prevails.

The High Street ships in Budleigh are already very much at risk and this idea will deter shoppers from visiting, especially the more elderly and frail. Parking needs to stay and the one way system needs to be down the High Street to encourage visitors

When the road was diverted last year because of gas pipes being changed it almost killed this beautiful town. Dont let that happen with this mad idea.
