Really? What job is worthy of this kind of a rapid increase?
"Currently, Moncton councilors earn $24,789.72, but that amount would increase to $33,494.53.
Deputy mayor Blair Lawrence makes $28,539.72, which would jump to $37,244.53.
Mayor Arnold would see a pay increase of more than $14,000 to $83,736.33 per year."

I am disappointed by council. The methods used were unethical, if not illegal and the amount, in one "lump sum" absolutely unreasonable. Even a graduated raise, over the full term of office, would be more palatable.

Wouldn't we all like a raise - and if we could vote on it ourselves. This is outrageous.

Based on the way in which this raise was brought forth, it should be effective May 2020.

The councilor's reasoning behind this fiasco falls flat. It reeks of self -entitlement.

The new information regarding possible illegal activity by council members surreptitiously colluding with each other to accomplish their immoral goals is also yet another reason why it should be stopped.

I believe in times such as now charitable giving is paramount. City Councillors who voted for this raise should be ashamed of themselves.

Not to mention the fact that not one valid, coherent or relevant reason for the increase was put forward!

If you want to increase the salaries for these positions, make them full time positions and wait till after the next election. I'm only asking for honesty.
