Stop Massive Truck Stop in Bonsall

Wrong location. Should be closer to city

I oppose this proposed truck stop.

While transportation infrastructure is important, the proposed truck stop poses significant local and environmental risks that outweigh any short-term economic benefit. Increased heavy-duty traffic will worsen noise, air pollution, and congestion—directly lowering nearby property values and quality of life.The development also raises concerns about groundwater contamination from fuel runoff and waste, light pollution affecting nearby residents and wildlife, and a likely rise in litter and crime typical of 24-hour highway facilities. Has a traffic impact study been completed, and if so, how many additional trucks per hour are expected during peak times? • What is the plan to manage increased congestion and wear on local roads not designed for heavy truck traffic? • How will emergency services respond to an accident or fire involving fuel on-site, and have they confirmed they have the capacity to do so? ⸻ Environmental Impact • What measures will be taken to prevent fuel, oil, and chemical runoff from contaminating local groundwater or nearby creeks? • Has an environmental impact report (EIR) or equivalent been conducted—and will it be made public before any permits are approved? • How will 24-hour lighting and noise pollution be mitigated for nearby homes and wildlife habitats? ⸻ Public Health & Quality of Life • How will the developer address diesel exhaust emissions and the associated increase in air pollution and asthma risk? • What data supports the claim that this project will benefit residents, rather than primarily serving interstate traffic? • Have property value impacts been analyzed for nearby homeowners and agricultural land? ⸻ Crime & Security • What measures are being implemented to prevent drug trafficking, prostitution, and theft, which often accompany large truck stops? • Will the facility have on-site security, and who will bear the cost—private management or local taxpayers? This area is already affected by traffic and a truck stop would only add the factors that affect the commute for the Bonsall, Escondido and valley center residents. A truck stop further north would make more sense. The area suggested is too close to residential spaces and local communities who purposely live there to get away from the city life.

No need for a truck stop here.

This Truck Stop would be disastrous! Too small of a space. Also, it would put small area businesses out of business.

This will really impact the character of the scenic corridor of the Avocado highway

As this area is primarily near residential communities and resort areas, this is not the spot for this...

I oppose the truck stop. It threatens safety, increases traffic, noise, and pollution, and risks loitering and lower property values. The neighborhood's character must be preserved over commercial gain.

As a local 20 year realtor & 30 year resident, I have many concerns for this proposed unnecessary development on this small parcel... including but not limited to road safety issues, major traffic congestion, septic issues, hazardous waste diesel/gas leak contamination, environmental impact, noise levels & I-15 corridor issues!!! Developers of this parcel have no concern for anyone but themselves. Hopefully the county of San Diego will get the message & not approve this ridiculous project! Kay Ohara

There is too much congestion at this intersection as it is. We so NOT need to increase it.

This will destroy our quiet little countryside community. It simply does not belong here.!
